Something for Titanium drivers
I was thinking that some incentive needs to be offered to Titanium drivers in order to keep then racing. The reason I say this is because I was looking through the top 50 points sheet tonight and it seems rare to see any of the Titanium drivers on the track now (and I miss them )

There aren't enough drivers to run a seperate server for them at the moment, so I really haven't a clue what might be required to bring them back. I just think it would be a shame to have these drivers lose interest because theres no goal at the moment for them to achieve.

Now, if you were to dangle the carrot of a CTRA league place in their faces, that might just work and could also be a great incentive to other Platinum and Gold racers to move up the that long ladder. Maybe if the points level for qualification were moved up to 80 or 90000 and 1st 20 to reach it get a place ? This, of course, assumes that you want to run a league next season at all. I think you should still retain the league (perhaps without all the bells and whistles) as I felt it was a great hook to get people involved from the outset in STCC with a chance (all but a slim one) of becoming a league driver.

Sam, maybe you have already made plans but I just want to see some provision to motivate Titanium drivers to continue driving in CTRA.

Tony
how about a Plasma level and compete for a chance in a racing league? or a prize for the most points at the end of each month? year?

and yes I know I'm only bronze

What first to 100,000 points gets a big red book with THIS IS YOUR LIFE printed in gold on the cover....
All the pages inside would be blank

Don't worry Tony... In a weeks time when I've got Titanium i sure as hell wont be stopping racing on CTRA servers...and i doubt Bravus will until he holds all the records

the first to titanium gets entry into the STCC, and there is (or was) a Platinum server, but it was ALWAYS empty
STCC isn't the big prestigeous league any more. It stood out because of it's broadcast and thats gone, so I dont think league incentives would be worth anything. I handed over the servers and system to the CTRA to get rid of it - although it's backfired anyway and i'm coding the ruddy system again, its a long story, I feel like im in prison.

There where plans that I think would have gone some way toward what you are asking for and I know CTRA are keen to see some of them realised but, the most important thing for now is to replicate as many of the existing features as possible before I hand the system back over to them.

Well I haven't been about recently, I'm just a bit off LFS at the moment. Reinstalled RBR the other week and have been having great fun tearing around Kielder in a 106 Rallye

I was looking forward to the new challenge of the GTR and Single Seater tiered servers, any word from those in the know if these are still planned ?

+1, that would be nice IMO.

Not the prize but the seperate points for each month.

I asked that question, and the reply i got was...

Quote from SamH :It's not ruled out, it's ruled in.

Not only that, either.. we've no plans to just tread water.. some things wicked, this way come

sounds promising

I, much like many many others, enjoyed watching the races with the commentary. Most of everything else has been passed on from STCC to CTRA, so should the broadcasts IMO.

On the subject of offering something for Titanium drivers to shoot for, we'd very much like to do this. When we're in a position to take things to the next level, we'll be talking to the Titanium drivers to see what they'd like to do.. whether this is to go on from Titanium to "Ozone", or to parallel the original series with a new licence entirely.. or even some other options we've not put together yet.

Right now, our biggest hurdle is to hit patch X running. Without a solid management application at that point, we've nothing to deliver to the community regarding good racing. Thankfully we're not entirely out on a limb, and Becky is helping massively there.

The broadcasts are an entirely different beast. Becky quite literally ran herself into the ground creating those every month, and anyone else assuming that responsibility is guaranteed to do the same. It's not just a case of cranking out 40 mins of WMV depicting an LFS race once every month.. Becky set a standard that I think anyone would be seriously pushed to equal, let alone exceed. The very nature of the beast means that, somewhere in the sequence of a whole bunch of people working to bring it together, in the end it has to go through one person - the race director - who compiles the rushes from upwards of 12 different camera positions, overlays the commentary tags/graphics, uploads to the commentators, brings in the resulting commentary streams, adds the pre-show, adds the post-show, adds the race progress graphics, mixes down, renders and publishes. Phew! Mammoth. And that's just to deliver what's been delivered before.
Yea, I hear what you are saying but I don't believe the broadcast of the league was the be-all and end-all. It can still be broadcast as a replay (without all the bells and whistles, as I said) at least in the interim period.

I also don't agree that there is now a flagging interest in joining the league now, just because of the lack of broadcast. LFS racers have always been keen to join leagues, regardless of wether they are broadcast or not. I don't think that's the major incentive for them as they race anyway, regardless. Quite frankly, I thought that the stcc league was much too detached from it's audience, simply because it was made pretty clear there was little chance for other racers to get involved (it was basically a closed-shop). As a spectating event, it worked just fine but LFS is about participation. Personally, I had a passing interest in these events but nothing more. Here now is an opportunity to allow the silver/gold/platinum racer, to at least have a chance to get involved. How that might be implemented, I've no idea but it surely must be linked to the points system.

Seems your looking at it anyhow so theres no point in me harping on about it. Enough said ...

If I don't type quickly, Becky will beat me to posting

The fundamental point of the STCC league, and it's oft-forgotten, is that it was originally created to be ONLY a broadcast league. Its target audience was never intended to be specifically LFSers. True, being an LFS event, it was always going to appeal to a lot of LFSers, but the intended audience was non-sim, other-sim and motorsports enthusiasts. The reason I got involved in the first instance was because the STCC would reach an audience that *might*, having seen an STCC broadcast or two, spend £24 on purchasing the sim. Becky, on the other hand, is just bloody-minded and wanted to do something to see if it could be done

So, basically, I think you're spot on, Mr Tony.. but there was method in it
