The best racing simulation EVER.



Anyway, Seeing the awesome deformation physics in the game gave me an idea. Why no Demolition Derby gamemode?
I think it would be a good addition to an already awesome game.

great idea, but i say it go fast boring. I suggest demolition derbys with AI´s, actually the AI´s can repair their cars on track.

This is neither here nor there when it comes to a racing sim, but here's something that's been a fun diversion from time to time...

SUMO!!

The idea is simple... you get a bunch of guys on the skidpad in TBOs with full passenger loads. Everyone lines up at the edge of the yellow circle, pointing toward the middle of the pad. Someone does a 3...2...1... countdown and on 1, everyone goes toward the middle. The goal is to be the last car that manages to stay inside of the yellow circle, while trying to push everyone else out.

Not quite demo derby, but a lot of fun nonetheless.

Sooner or later LFS is going to turn into need for speed with all these silly ideas.. i agree it might be fun but it defeats the object of the game, which IMHO is to be a real driving and racing simulator.

+1 but it already reality.

it is called banger racing. we had some banger-kind of league in the past where you actually got points for wrecking other cars.

the object of the game IS and WAS: "to provide a simulation to any kind of racing"

and banger racing is a form of racing. it is done in real life and its quite common. don't be so closed minded...

@TS: Haven't you checked the BL parking at demo? =D

I did that 1 or 2 times, it was good fun RB4s was the choice, I made 1 or 2 layouts for it. I put tyres around the edge so we could know if someone lost.

Demo derby was fun when S2 first came out, the servers were full of Car Parks with XFG's looking like mush, I suppose most people are bored of it, but if there was to be a dedicated demo derby car (Stripped Ford Escort anyone?), I'd happly play

Well drifting is RACING so why is it bad mouthed? when people ask for drift tracks and drift cars.

Its kindof ironic that the best deformation effects I've seen in a car game are in LFS- better even than Flatout, (which was pretty much designed as a wrecker game)- yet LFS totally frowns apon wreckers...

There have been some fun servers pop up at different times with different ideas that weren't strictly about racing. Maybe you could drum up some support for a destruction derby type thing. Another good one was tag, but I never actually joined a game myself.

We just need good damage physics ( hopefully it will hapen someday) and a small rallycross oval (wouldn't be too long to make one)

a wide variety of racing, not ANY. Big difference.
The objective of racing is to be as fast as possible and to finish an amount of laps ahead of anybody else. Demolition Derby lacks this objective.
People race with tractors in rl too, that doesn't mean it's supposed to be in LFS just because of that.
Anyway, it's perfectly possible to set up a banger server in LFS right now so it's not needed.
And the "don't be close minded" argument everytime people don't agree with a certain proposed addition is getting old and tiresome.

I'd like to see some form of banger racing, but not a big bloody showdown deathmatch bowl.

Crashday or Flatout2 is for that

if you want demo derby I say go to a demo server on BL3. loads of crashing their.

go to demo mode, then try to find a couple of iDi members then you can do demolition derby
