Going to Berlin in a couple of days: what to do?
As the title says, my girlfriend and I are going to Berlin for four days - from the 14th to 18th May. I'm going to check out some travel sites on the net for advice on things to do/see, but I am wondering if some of you guys here could maybe help out as well? We're tourists, so a lot of stuff will be more fascinating for us than for some of you, but if you could recommend a nice unknown restaurant or something, that would be great! Anything at all...

For cheap but really quite nice accomodation try the Generator Hostel in Landsberger Alle.

Places to visit.

The Checkpoint Charlie museum [Friedrich Strasse]
The National Film museum at Potsdamer Platz [and Potsdamer Platz itself]
Museum Island [Unter Den Linden]
Alexander Platz
Brandenburg Gate & Reichstag [Strasse des 17 Juni/Unter den Linden]
Unter den Linden and the streets off it for a little shopping/cafe culture.
The New National Gallery.[Postdamer Strasse]
The Bauhaus archive [Van der Heyt Strasse]
Berlin Zoo and the Memorial Church ["around" Kurfursten Strasse ]
The Tiergarten and the Vctory Column
The Soviet War memorial [Strasse des 17 Juni]
The Olympic Stadium
Museum of contemporary art [Invaliden Strasse/Hamburger Banhof]

That should give you something to tilt at - it's a big city with plenty of history and museums/galleries to look at.
Let's see if I can scale a street map down to fit the attachment limit.
[You ought to be able to get a copy of this same map at most tourist info spots]

thats what i call spam
Here is what worth seeing in my opinion, I'll repeat some of Smax's.

Museum island's Berliner Dom, the old museum, the old national gallery.
Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten, on Alexander platz you can visit the TV tower, it cost 8 euros IIRC.
And maybe Sanssouci in Potsdam, about 20 minutes by S-bahn.
thanks SMAX for the effort

I'm sure we can figure something out from there...

Also, what is AVUS?

Thanks guys/gals
What is Avus? How dare you! :o

I see the Veyron's still in a shop window on the Unter Den Linden. Now that's my kinda window shopping.

It was there 2 1/2 years ago when I was in Berlin, which if I remember correctly was before the car actually launched, so I'm not convinced it's actually any more than a big clay model, although I could be wrong.
