Since the e-bay ad makes no mention of things like brakes and suspension I would imagine it's got worn out original parts on it. That and the fact it's got the V6 stuffed into a chassis never designed with that engine in mind doesn't exactly inspire me to want to own it, especially not if the DVLA thinks it's still a 1.6.

Whoever did this was evidently formed from the sludge dredged from the shallow end of the gene pool.

ok, corvette is a bit lighter and has 40hp more so...

khem

vs japan 2.0ltr 400 bhp
Yes but that is after twin turbos and it probably produces absolutely no torque.

Its a right shed... but i bet its fun to drive

Yanks don't know what a turbo is do they?

I know what a turbo is... rubbish!
Hey Guys!! This thread is about some interesting (i use this term lightly) car, lets not turn it into a American vs. Non-American argument shall we people? After all, we dont want to end up like streetfire.net, where if you look in the comments of a motorbike accident, there surely will be a dispute about American vs. non-american

Well... that is just silly. What is an import to me is a domestic to someone else. What is a domestic to me is an import to them! Domestic doesn't mean american. GDP doesn't mean Gross American Product!
Tss, i will edit post just for you. And because i was an idiot....

single turbo and 481Nm of torque. and thats before you start tuning

You miss something:
A "normal" engine in a road car is made to run daily without daily services. Any kind of race engine with 100HP+/1liter definily isn´t made for daily use and of course it would not survive a stop and go ride through traffic all the time. Even such a engine don´t have a quiet run at idle. You can´t complain those kind of engines. Any 400HP engine 4 cylinder (beside most high power japanese engines are straight 6 like skyline) will not survive 100.000 miles without major part changing.

BTW: IMHO you should stay away from the Opel V6 engines. I own two older opels with 2.5 and 3.0 24V straight six engines. Goes up to 7.000 RPM for short periods. You will blow most factory V6 at this rpm.

and you base that information on absolutey nothing but guess work??

evo fq 400 has forged internals, also plenty of midly tuned ones running around with 380-400 used daily

Maybe, but not for a long time. Permanent burden (?) will lead to short life period of the engine.

A 600HP E36 f.e. (DA-Motorsport) needs every 500km Oilchange and completly engine-refit every 30.000-40.000 km. Not really a daily cruiser.
@Crazy Harry - I think you've completely missed the fact that the Impreza engine is not being overly stressed (in factory spec) and will happily drive around town at low revs just like the non-turbo charged version. Japanese manufactures generally have an excellent reliability record (supposedly Honda has never had a faulty vtec returned) likely far better than the average cast iron heap in American motors

Of course any engine that regularly gets thrashed isn't going to last forever but the low down torque of the turbo charging means turbo 4 pots don't rev as high as their n/a relatives. As much as I dislike them in LFS turbos are a sensible choice for road cars offering good fuel economy/behaviour round town at low revs and plenty of torque at higher revs.
