Each stage costs an additional £12.

S1 = £12
S2 = £24
S3 = £36
S1 » S2 = £12
S1 » S3 = £24
S2 » S3 = £12

So, whether you keep upgrading or you buy a stage all at once, it will cost the same overall.

It should be noted that we don't know for sure that the price will be £12 for the S2 > S3 upgrade. The devs may very well change the price by then. It's very likely to be in that range though.

Not to spread anything, but originally we were all thinking this year, 2007 we would see stuff coming from S3, but the way S2 which is way more than we had expected, I don't think we will see S3 stuff until 2009-2010. But you can trust me on this, expect great things to come in the next years to come.

Somehow your maths are wrong, by your logic, we would have all paid 36£ for S2, when we haven't. It should have been worded in the way that S1 was 12£ and S2 was an additional 12£, and S2 would be an extra 12£ on top of S2. There's a large difference between you wording and the way I have corrected you. By your explanation, S3 would cost a total of 72£, which is double what S3 would actually cost.

As soon as I read the buy page back before S1 was released I understood it exactly. I also understood the part about it taking a long time to be completed, and the fact that no promises are made.

most programs offer free updates to the same version like say for example
adobe CS
version1. It gets free updates to 1.2, 1.3 , 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 , 1.8, 1.9

then version 2 which is considered a new version you wil have to pay for, and the cycle continues,

I think paying 36 pound for a game a few years ago, then expecting it after 2-4 years and 2 new versions, asking that to be free in all fairness is pretty much out of line, I mean how ungratefull are you

Hehe, I think many of us are at the devs mercy here, because no matter what price they put on S3 (which I'm practically sure won't be more expensive than the other stages), I WILL have to buy it. I'm not even going to think about it. Even if its 100 euros...200 euros, I won't be smiling but I'll do it. 5 years of addiction means something!

Honestly, how many years do you think the devs want to be working on S2? It has already been 3 years (..wow I didn't even realize its been that long).

With the '09-'10 estimate, I dont think I'm really being that optimistic at all, I might be, but I'm sure even if it is at a later date we'd still get plenty of content updates in there, otherwise after 5 years I bet the entire community would feel pretty crappy and LFS would probably be deserted until further notice.

I thought it was cheaper to buy them in one hole pack.

Each stage costs 12 pounds, that is all there is to it.

In a way, I hope that S3 takes a while, and we get the final S2 with the proper damage simulation, etc, first. My comp is putting out 47 fps max with moderate settings and hi-res packs when I'm hotlapping, but goes down to like 12 sometimes, when I'm in a full pack. I kind of almost want to wait, so I can get a good comuter and a G26(lol) for S3.

Through, there IS a ton of stuff to look forward to: weather simulation, proper rally stuff, some new rides, like an updated Subaru WRX( forgot name), and a GTR version of that allows dirt tires. Point to point courses, stuff like working lights and night racing, etc. etc.etc. There's just so many things that could be included, it's hard to think of them all.
