I cannot afford a TrackIR module, but I'd like to see what it is like. Is there anything out there that will allow me to use my gyroscopic mouse in the same fashion? (use the x-axis of the mouse for head movement?) I was literally going to strap it to my head and try it out, just to see what it's like. It's very accurate. Thanks!

ive used camtrack before, but i dunno how to get it to work with lfs.....anyone?

Actually, its not the best thing anymore...there are a load of PROFESSIONAL progs out there to do it, but they are even more expensive than TrackIR....a free one that I am about to check out can be found here: http://synapse.vit.iit.nrc.ca/Nouse/download.html

I tried it with my gyroscopic mouse, it was pretty silly. It works really well, aside from the fact that it doesn't recenter itself correctly. But after about minutes, you get used to it and you can keep it in the middle.

Actually, that Nouse (no spelling error) software is amazing, but the demo they offer disables the joystick or mouse mode. Damn.

yeah, and they tell you to register on the site to unlock it, but nowhere to sign up!!

Not free, but Cam2Pan is the best I've tried so far. Posted about it in this thread:
