lmfao what a waste of time. Bearing in mind it barely ran on my system, which is hardly low spec. Granted I had everything on max, but getting something like 0.5fps is complete bs.
I can only assume thats the demo performance, as if thats how the final game runs, I dont imagine anyone would bother buying it.
edit: Gave it another go, settings on high this time @1680x1050 and it was fine :S Can only assume something broke it before.
However its standard CMR, absolutely terrible physics etc. Graphics are... ok I guess, its a bit of the old BLOOM MAKES EVERYTHING LOOK GREAT case. Tbh it doesnt, it makes it look stupid. Looks similar to Flatout2 imo, only runs about 5 times slower.
The menu system could be one of the worst I've ever seen. The first time you see it you think this is cool, then you actally try and use it and have to wait ages for a bunch of flying windows to move around. And don't get me started on the guys voice in the menu...
edit 2: Im just editing this again to say the bloom is actually starting to hurt my eyes. Attached is an un-edited screenshot of it. I really didnt know gravel and dirt glows in real life
Also it seems if you go below 30mph you can turn 180 degrees almost instantly, useful for hairpins.
Actually real life does have bloom, but you really have to look to see it, so the game developers thought to add bloom and they wanted people to notice it. You know as in, "Look at us, we really have a great attention to detail, as you probably don't, we'll make the effect look overwhelmingly overkill so you can see our masterfulness!11"
Yeah, I know but none of the games that has bloom (or so called HDR, which in most cases just means bloom) has yet made it realistic enough. HL2 (Episode 1) gets pretty close but still bit too over-exaggerated, walls and large surfaces are over-exposed etc. It's so sad that today some bloom and motion blur equals to "uber next gen graphics". Seems like sharp and clean textures and realistic looking graphics are totally forgotten.
It's really being overdone in so many titles. Its quite ridiculous.
For me, a game like Stalker shows whats achievable when you apply things tastefully and with restraint. In DX8 mode, there's a hint of bloom (or bloom like effect) from the sun which interacts slightly with objects which are in its vicinity. Its a great effect, and since it's DX8, something similar could also be applied to LFS with great results. (edit: I think I made this point before)
The whole effects for effects sake is getting out of hand IMO, seems as if developers are just checking things off... HDR? Check. 1000 different kinds of pixel shader? Check. And if you dont have the black monolith from 2001 in your study then you can forget it.
I love graphics and the technology of graphics, but without proper art direction, you just end up with something which hurts your eyes. illepall
I have to say the car models are very highly detailed, and the environment does look very good in places, the vegetation etc.
I was going to take some more screenshots but it really doesnt like alt-tabbing, so I couldnt be bothered lol.
Imo its more of a 'screenshot' game than a gameplay game, but we already knew that with its name
i haven't played it, yet, but it doesn't seem to be all bloom from looking through the screenshots...although there is a fair amount of bloom in the game.
the pc version is just a port, if you want to really enjoy it, do it on a 360 or ps3, its definitively a lot better then previous titles, i actually ejoyed it (im a well known codemasters hater, so that says a lot).
