Poll : Should there be birds in LFS?

Yes.
4
Will a double barrel shotgun be available?
4
Only if there is a Squirrel Addon pack.
3
Only if it includes flock behavior.
2
Not yet, but yes in a week or so should be enough time.

Quote from al heeley :Watch the sicko's swerving off the racing line to clip the crow. Reminds me of Half Life 2 where you can go round wasting your bullets on the crows and the seagulls.

HAHAHAHHA :uglyhamme
Sounds like something I would do mid-race.
Quote from Kalev EST :Yes. I´d very much like to run over cats.

My old supervisor used to call them 'Speedbumps.' heh heh

Quote from al heeley :Birds prefer quiet county trees and bushes, not noisy smelly race tracks.

True indeed; although Rabbits and Groundhogs both seem to enjoy them. One Groundhog at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant was even smart enough to tunnel under the race track, instead of waddling his fat arse across it. It was funny...
I am very dissapointed by this thread...... was hoping for some other type of bird...

Pitbabes would be nice, too.

Just wait for a decent breast-physics patch. Do you really want to see breasts bouncing around all arcadey?

Those physics take a while to develop .

well if the beak could puncture tyres it would be fine

other than that this suggestion is indeed for the birds

Scawen will have fun studying.
poor roo,
skippy isn't doing any more movies
he had a workplace accident
a bit off topic (but not as far as flying ostriches) there used to be some rabbits at old hall corner, oulton park, till they remoddled it and sometimes you would see them on the track side of the barrier and they would actually sit up and watch the cars go past.

even further off topic i remember in early '80s watching from the bank before the old knickerbrook and there was a fox hunt and the fox ran a full lap of a field to leave his scent before nipping through the brook. the hounds got confused and next minute popped up at knickerbrook bend! luckily it was between races so was quite funny but could have beed nasty
Quote from [RCG]Boosted :an thing what came in my mind while playing TDU.
add birds!

This was the first thing I removed from TDU. Birds and papersheets. What about boobs?
Quote from Crazy Harry :This was the first thing I removed from TDU. Birds and papersheets. What about boobs?

Where?! :eye-poppi
Which version of TDU are you playing Harry?
Its still version 1.45A. TDU webpage says that there will be a patch this month.

If you want to delete the paper and birds, just go to your
\Atari\Test Drive Unlimited\Euro\Bnk\Details folder.

Rename the birds.bnk and the paper.bnk to f.e. birds.bak and paper.bak (or delete the files)

1600x1200, 4xAA, HDR on, Full details gives me 60 fps without this stuff. 5 fps more as with paper/birds.
Heh, and birds hitting your radiator and pooping on all your windshield would be a funny random-race-spoiler (kaw! )
well, i reverted back to the original wind file, because when driving an open topped car the wind soundfiles volume is increased and used to create cockpit windnoise, so it sounded as if a bird was perched right on your head!
Yeh remerber going round anglesey circuit with my dad with about 50 rabbits watching us
I'm all for adding birds... well, I'd like to see the appropriate animals added to the appropriate track. Pigeons/seaguls/cats (1) to SO. n on the other tracks, just some stereotypical birds. SO needs something specific though since its a city scene.

add some birds flying around, sitting on houses, rails or else.

Threats wont get what you want in LFS.
Quote from Kendercik :
Add active wimpers then.

I like the idea of active whimpering. Much bettr than the active whining we read on the forums.
Add Rain/Night
Quote from [DaEmOn] :Add Rain/Night

How is that even bloody remotely RELATED to this thread?!

1) Search first.
2) Post on-topic, please
3) Read the rest of the thread. I've seen you in another thread do something which was not even a post earlier in the thread, but 2 posts ABOVE yours and you're doing it (Look at your sig, there's a reason why it's broken.)

*sigh*
Quote from wark :I honestly can't recall seeing a single bird flying while I was driving... a bat once or twice, but never a bird. :bat:

maybe you should drive the "other" car Bruce

but on topic, this could be a good idea, but i don't think things like cats and dogs would be a good idea (i can imagine the same cat at the same part of the track for 60 laps, not really believable imo) i play a game called ArmA (armed assault) and it had birds and dragon flies, these are put in the game to distract you when you are looking down the ironsight (or optics) on your gun. it is very impressive and it does distract you.
You know, maybe the running over the bird thing isn't so far fetched - in a manner of speaking. I don't mean running over small animals or nonsense like that. No, I'm thinking more along the lines of bug build up. like a swarm of some sort of bugs. I don't know if you could build up enough bug guts in your filters to have an effect in an average LFS race, but if it was possible, then it might ought to be considered, especially if there's going to be night time racing.

LOL in the 1800's a base ball game got called because it rained. It rained - Fish! One of those weird weather phenomena things I guess.
Maybe on the fern bay courses we could have like a waterspout sling a bunch of fish all over the track. Or Melon sized Hail!

I don't know, I think the original posted idea of having birds flying in the background is a pretty good idea though. not like some sort of bird sanctuary, but something that would be appropriate and a like sporadic occurrence.
Quote from Racer Y :like a swarm of some sort of bugs.

Bugs? Lets wait for a decent sand-physics patch (in rally pack). Do you really want bugs draining tunnels in arcade mode?
