Sound volume for dif cars
Well, hopefully this was not posted before.

Something i noticed when playing in a server with no car restriction is very VERY upsetting. When you are racing a BF1 people should hear you coming from a mile away, the volume of the engine sound should be something outrageously LOUD, but it it not.
Same thing for the GT cars, well, they dont have mufflers and stuff, you should hear a big difference, their sound should be in a very dif volume from all the other cars...

Cheerz,

k
It's a known thing. There isn't much that can be done to it. You can't increase the sound level much before it starts clipping. All you could do what movie soundtracks have, that is to lower the quiet sounds (low powered street cars) so that there is more room for loudening the loud sounds (race cars). There are few problems to this though. First of all you need a lot of amplifying power to make the quiet sounds loud (hearable) and then if some one went by in a BF1 your ears would blow out.

You can already change the engine volume indirectly on a car by car basis in the shift + A sound editor menu. Bare in mind though that modern F1/GT cars aren't that loud due to their stringent noise regulations, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year the group B cars were probably the loudest, followed by a range of historic machinery. The F1 cars were fairly quiet not terribly impressive screamy things with no real character to their exhaust note.

BRM V16 ftw. I've never heard anything louder. Or meaner. Le Mans comes second, although the cars vary a lot. Audis are quite quiet, last time I went I think one of the Porsche's seemed the loudest. Panoz sound nicer though, Corvettes sound like they're idling all the time. Ah, maybe next year I'll go again.

I heard the BRM V16 then an Austin 7 back to back at Shelsley, the Austin 7 was a lot louder, but it was an original twin cam special revving over 10 grand pre-war! (and the loudest car I've ever heard )
