Jakg is right guys.

I have attached my opinion on the simmilar system.Would get to 1200GBP if I would include Windows Vista Home Premium OEM + same flash stick and web camera.

Saved around 250GBP and having better cooler, fast 10k RPM drive for OS and second HD.Better mice.I could get easily 150GBP down without the fast 10K rpm HD and different motherboard from MSI which I know can overclock nicely too.

I think one package from overclockers is not well balanced.1000W power supply is so overkill.
You we need several HD,2x 8800 GTX in sli and some Quad core overclocked and this would be still enough.

ok guys ive just bought and built the same system as barlin's, how ever i looked at his bios and it said 6600 @ 2.4Ghz?? its meant to be overclocked to 2.9?? my new computer with the same mobo ect say's the same thing, only thing ive changed is the dram speeds, so i rang overclockers and said that it does'nt appear to be overclocked he said he'd email me the bios settings,

this is what ive recieved.....

Uguru Utility:
CPU Operating Speed - User Define
External Clock - 334 Mhz
N/B Strap CPU as - PSB 1066
DRAM Spec DDR2 667

Voltages Control - User Define
CPU Core - 1.4v
DDR2 - 2.10v
MCH & PCIe - 1.51v

Advanced Chipset Features:
DRAM Timings Control - Manual
CAS - 4
RAS - 4
RAS Per - 4
Precharge - 12

does that seem right to overclock to 2.9Ghz?

any help much apreciated.

oh BTW it only took me 3 hours from boxes to running, not bad for my first ever build Smile easier than i thought
334Mhz quad pumped = 1336Mhz FSB
9 x 334 = 3006Mhz

Should be running at 3Ghz with those settings.

Why is the RAM @ 667Mhz? I thought its PC6400 ie 800Mhz stock.

Yes, afaik PC6400 = 800 MHz DDR2, it's cell shock....
It should be at 800Mhz, however they may have started it at 667Mhz (roughly 20% slower than 800Mhz), so when overclocking the FSB, the ram ends up at almost 800Mhz, instead of pushing it too about 1000Mhz, where it probably wouldnt be abale to operate at 4-4-4 timings.

I can't see anything wrong with the settings they've sent you, as to why it wasn't operate at those speeds in the first place is down to overclockers.co.uk . No-one enjoys the hassel of sending things back, but part of the reason you paid what you did was for a pre-overclocked pc, if you don't get that then you havn't got what you paid for.
thats what i told them, and it seemed to be a common problem as he sent me the settings straight away
well i used the settings they gave and yes its now running at 3Ghz, woot the frame rates were in the high 160-200's before, its crazy now Thumbs up

thanks for the advice

just for curiosity.

What FPS you get driving alone on BL in Single player?
Please also the same on Westhill. On both track using wheel view and no mirrors.

Give the min and max.
I am pretty curious to compare it with my pretty old system.

Thanks in advance.

What size monitor/resolution are you using if you don't mind me asking?

This is not directed at you personally, but it makes my laugh, people who are happy to spend £1500 on a big spec pc, then run games at 1280x1024 on a 17" monitor. Doesnt matter what settings you use, that isnt going to make a 640mb 8800GTS break a sweat.

If you can afford it, do yourself the favour of getting at LEAST a 20", if not 24" monitor and see what your hardware can really do at big resolutions, you'll be impressed Big grin

19" monitor 1280 x 1024
Thats like 10-20 percent more then I get with A64 3200+(2Ghz),2x512MB ram,7950GT 256MB.Hmmm....not much more.

I am very curious whats you online min FPS when there is like 20-30 cars at the start.
not interested in wide screen monitors, maybe i'll look into a 22",

im not trying to say look at me im great, just saying im happy with what its running at, did the comparisons for devil, tbh i dont play much online but when i do next i'll tell you what the min is.
Your screenshots look horrible!
Turn up AA to 16x, gamma correct AA=true, Transparency AA=supersampling, AF to 16x to get rid of the awful aliasing effects!
