problems with S2 on Local Network
3. Unlock Rules and Regulations
3.1 You may install S1 or S2 on 2 computers for your own use or to race
a friend on a Local Network.

I would like to do this, but I can only run with my two computers on a Local Network if I create a demo server (if I create a S1 or S2 server, the second computer can´t connect (it says that the IP is wrong, and it is not wrong, it works great if I create a demo server on my Local Network).

Can anybody help? Thank very much.
What are your IPs? They need to be in the local lan range (192.168.0.0. - 192.168.255.255) to work.
Great timing cause i'm doing a LAN this weekend and would like to race a friend too.

So, what's the procedure?
Install S2 on the other PC and unlock, right?
(Have you unlocked S2 on the other PC, angel_lfs?)

Then it's just a matter of opening a server on LOCAL on one of the PCs and enter into that server on the other PC?

As long as they are in a manual IP LAN (192.168.0.0. - 192.168.255.255) it's gonna work, is that it?

Yes, to be able to race with unlocked content in a LAN environment you have to use the 192... range. Hamachi, for example, does not work.
problems with S2 on Local Network
I have unlocked S2 on both PC.

My IP in my Local Network is automatic (169.254.234.86), but it works if I start on any PC a demo server.

I can also create a S1 or S2 server, but when I try to connect from the other PC it says that it is a not valid IP (But this IP is valid on a demo server).

I have XP home o both PC and I have made a local network with my two PC connecting them directly.

I think it is not a problem with my network, because it works great if I create a demo server.

I´m going to try to change my IP to put it in range...
Yes, do that. LFS actively prevents connections outside of the 192... range.

Just looked up the ranges; following are valid:
  1. 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8)
  2. 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12)
  3. 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16)
It works with demo because it doesn't check the IP range. With S1/S2 servers it checks if the IP is in the LAN range to prevent usage of programs like Hamachi to prevent crackers playing over the Internet.
ok, I am going to try to change the IP in my local network. Thank you all for your help.

It is also funny playing with a friend in the same room
It works
Than you very much. It works.

I change the IP on my Local Network (192.168...) and now I can run a S2 server with my two PC.

All cars, all tracks to play at home with a friend...perfect.

Thanks again.
To make it work with S2. If you have a router, you have to do two things. In WAN config, give a new IP to the lan in the stated range. Then in Network configurations in xp, give ur puter the same IP. You'll need to run
IPConfig from dos and enter the submask, DNS etc also.

Portforwarding.com tells you how to do this for your particular router.
