Real and Wheels Speedometers - Editing Gauges Background
I never needed this kind of thing... but recently I changed My Team Skin and the Gauges from the outside view (virtual Ones ) are really hard to read, no matter the color of them... so I Thought the Devs could make possible to edit the Gauges Background colour or maybe like you edit the Lights... a DDS archive, common for all the Cars ( Just the gauges... not the hole cluster )... so you could easily read the analog gauges at any condition ( Skin colours, track texture, whatever )...

Something Like The Attached images

Remembering that I don't want This Tuning crap... but it'll give a fresh look to the gauges and it'll improove readability (??)... I Made in internal View... but My sugestion is to do In internal and External View... because What bothers me is that the gauges stay "over" the skin... and the details in the skins make it harder to read...

Sorry for the bad english.

I think that has been suggested before, maybe in a little different way. But I still agree on refined gauges, maybe we will get them with Eric's car update (which nobody knows when it's finished )
The background of the gauges itself is a nice idea too, and it could be easy to implement for Scawen, and black text on white background could look rather nice too. I just can't imagine how green on white could improve readability

I play with green on black... using photoshop it would be crappy to replace the green to black... só i just changed the background to white... just to illustrate that my idea is only the gauges background... not the hole cluster being white of other colour...

it was suggested before, but the whole gauges are rendered realtime, so giving them some background is propably not so easy (or possible). But yes, i`d also like to replace the plain black color with some shading etc.

It's not really that hard to do I don't think. If the dev's can make a 3D engine by themselves, I don't think a 2D render is that difficult.
Its not, but in lowers FPS.

By what, .5? A couple of extra elements on the 2D interface, shouldn't be that intense...
Shouldn't be, no. I don't really know why the devs haven't put much time into the actual gauge faces.

the cluster in the editable view is nice now, I do like that, but the gauges need to be customized to each car to give it that.. more realistic look (ei: how many cars have you stepped into to discover the gauges look exactly like the last cars').

I think it's because the current gauges serve their purpose good enough. You can clearly see the speed and RPM, and the important lights. Despite that it looks ugly, it works!
Not always, in several cars there are many parts that you can't see. MRT is the example that cuts off the gauges the most.
Quote from Markz :Wow... I never saw how physically impossible it was to read the smaller guages on the RB4...

How would you know?

Whats the problem....read what he said , harjun be quiet
Ha, XCNuse got pwned by a demo racer
But just looking at Markz post-count ... I wonder who would be stupid enough to out himself as a cracker after already participating in the forums like that
Didn't even recognize that was an RB4 with that weird interior, sorry there Markz.

Harjun, don't become a worse spammer than LFSnoob or else you'll get be in the stocks for a few days.
whats the stalks lol, sorry i was HIGH on red bull there. I had wings
I Came up with another sugestion... I use analog speedometer, but when you're inside pits, you can't really know how fast you're going... for example. the LX6, when you've finished the pitstop and go away burning tires using 1st and 2nd gear, the pointer stays above unreal 80 KPH ( the limit ) but when the tires stop burning you're above 80 KPH real, so you're penalized with DT.

My sugestion is to make as it happens in GT4 ( image above ).

Maintain the analog speedo with the wheels speed and insert a digital speedo to show real speed... so we can control the speen in this little cases... and it would be interesting to see the analog speedo error...

it shouldn't be hard to do since in previous versions the speedo was only real speed... but i think it's awesome to see the wheels speed but do not want to loose it to the real speedo to come back.
There is no 'error' in the speedo. It jut reads the speed from the drivwshaft (like it should). And i think those gauges look werd and most of the people drive from the cockpit view so where will you put this digital speedo? Unrealistic... Learn to accelerate normally and not go over the speed limit :P

It wouldn't be weird to put the digital speedo in cockpit View... it could be placed inside the analog one... just like the odometer there on GT4... i'm just suggesting this because not all cars in LFS have Speed Limiters but 90% of the race cars in real life have speed limiter.

would make life easyer on LFS.
