taking a nap
I have a 17 year old friend who insists on taking a nap. He consistently chooses to do so, seemingly, for no reason at all. He does not have a disease and is not sick and does not suffer from sleep deprivation.

I did the other day, unfortunately I payed for it afterwards by not being able to sleep that night.

If you want a prank, appear at his house and get a little thing of hot water and put his hand in it lol.

Sleep is an awesome thing, you know. It's nice to be rested and properly awake. I'm 17 and I suffer from slight... insomnia, if you could call it that - waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep. I've gone to a lot of trouble these past few weeks to find a natural "cure" for that and I'm thankful that I did. Sleeping properly has meant that I actually function twice as well as I do otherwise.

I often have a short nap on the bus, which is a slight problem seeing as I am supposed to be driving it!
I have decided that I would like to die peacefully in my sleep like my dear old Uncle...

Not screaming in terror like the passengers on HIS bus
I wouldnt call it lame, just annoying when your trying to contact a friend in the middle of the day expecting them to be awake, only to find they're taking a nap!

To answer the question: No.
just let him have some sleep if he needs it.
i for one fall asleep by accident, in school or in front of the tv, just because i can´t sleep at night.
There is nothing wrong taking a nap, 10-15 minute sleep can be really good for you. Although I must say that if I sleep during daytime I get a weird feeling once I wake up. I feel dizzy, thirsty and generally weird, like some sort of sleep hangover. Does anyone get something like that?

Haven't been tired or needed an extra sleep at the afternoon in few months as I have no school at the moment. Got a 3 shift job this week, so let's see if I need naps soon again. :P
wait till a spanish posts, they do the siesta.

LoL I hate the "siesta" It's just a waste of time for me.
Eh...no.

I slept for over 5 years almost every day before and after school for 30 minutes in the bus.

My brother on his way home on leave from his army tour, took a nap once. He was suppose to change planes in St. Louis and go to San Francisco. He called from New Orleans. Yeah, lucky he only went one stop too far as well......

Naps are great. When I was 17/18, I took naps all the time. I worked nightturn, midnight - 8 am. I would nap from around 9am - 10:30 am, then again at 9 pm - 10:30 pm.
I fell asleep at the dentist's once. I'd been up all night with toothache and as soon as he gave me the anaesthetic I dozed off. I wish I could fall asleep every time I visit the dentist.

ohhhhhhhhh...

...To take a nap in the bus is the most relaxing thing to do.
atheletes sometimes take naps to help recover after workouts. it could be something else.
I'd like to hear why some people voted 'yes'?
I'd kill for a good night sleep.
i just woke up from a nap and my friends don't consider me lame so... no

I do!

I hate falling asleep during daytime, the rest of the day is kind of ruined.. After waking up, i feel worse than before

lame
It depends, if you take a nap after lunch it must be no less than 15 minutes to be effective, and no more than 45 minutes. If you sleep more your body "thinks" it's bed time and your "sleep quota" is messed up so you may have problems sleeping at night.

20-25 minutes is a good choice if you want to take it.
Go sleep at night, wuss . A little nap is ok, as long as it isn't a 'beauty-nap' as it's called here.
absolutely yes! there is nothing more relaxing then 15-30 minutes of sleep after lunch.

You shouldn't do it as a substitute for the night sleep though.

lame

ur damn right!
I think I voted yes while I wanted to say no. But sometimes when I get home from school, especially during exams, I fall asleep in the afternoon. After that I really really don't feel like getting up at all again, but sometimes I just have to. It totally sucks, while it just feels sooooo good. I think I'm about to crawl in my bed now
