The online racing simulator
No time is wasted I see
Website is only half functional and servers are gone already....
 :ouch:
I suspect they were taken offline to avoid confusion. Don't worry it will be back better than ever before =)

Yep, I took down the servers after an hour of Patch X being released. We have a huge amount of work to do on the hardware. With Patch X being delayed about a week, we're a week behind parts of our schedule already!

I did wait until races were over, though.. and there were only 2 people racing. I mentioned that Patch X had been released and the pair of them were off the server like it'd bitten 'em

Here's an overview of what we're doing. The detailed version is a bit more comprehensive..

Had a quick peak at the overview. OMG you got your work cut out there. Good luck with all that.

Well apart from the "Reformat C drive" it looks like about an hour and a half of hard work if three people do it Good luck gentlemen and woman
I have to admit it doesnt look like much when you think about a home computer.

The current server is a mess though, it's not just a case of backup some stuff format C and then drag it back again. It needs to be put back with some design and order, which means picking through everything that is on there and figuring out if it is needed and what it's config should be in the new schema.

Anyway, the migration isn't waiting on the server work, right now it's waiting on my morning coffee .
Good luck and hope everything works the way your planed it.
lets say some people might look at that and think its simple but frmo what i know of servers in general that is a lot of work

hehe! It is a massive over-simplification, really. For starters, it's taken John 2 days so far to "clean redundant data from 2nd drive", and it's still ongoing. We have 500GB of data belonging to lots of people, collected over the last 2 or 3 years. We don't want to ditch any of it until we know who it belongs to, and whether it's still needed. The same for websites, there are about 200 websites hosted on the box and a lot of them are no longer active. Where they're no longer active we want to know if the originator wants to keep the content or if it's okay to ditch it. There's also a lot of stuff we want to introduce to the server and a lot of software installed. We also have to make sure that we can reinstall everything we use, and that we have the correct keys to install with. It's not a small project like it looks, because we're responsible to so many different people

Good luck Sam and the rest of the people doing this! sounds like you need it!

Once it's all back up and running I'll try and get onto the CTRA licence system again. I think I'm gold now, but gave up long ago with it
*backs up files, because we know how Sam likes to get the server right on the first try*
And now ?, is it ok ? :-) I am so impatient.....

Just kiding, have a good work, I hope that all will be well.

I know that all of you are doing a great job, and because it is also my job I know that computer and software can be sometimes "bad boys !"
as if they were alive !.

Quote from SamH :

Thats ace! Although i wish it was a little bigger because it would make a truely excellent wallpaper
Something for the website? Or would that be unprofessional?
I did notice the other week Sam the CTRA Tag painted on track - Last corner of FE club before the servers went down and I'm sure there's more.

So after that crop circle are we going to be in for some Combine Harvester Racing

Erm, we are special, but even we can't force a tarmac texture to be loaded on your PC - i think you are just over-reading stuff. I'd call this "CTRA Deprivation", it's only cure is still in development...
I now it should be a hell of a job but it sure should look COOL .
At the start/finish the CTRA mark on the tarmac.
Hello !

Sam, Do you think that you could add a counter on the CTRA web page that show us the percentage remaning before CTRAX server restart or something like that ?
