Help with project
Alright, I'm working on a project and I was hoping that there might be someone here who had the knowledge to help me do this correctly. I am basically trying to wire up a few speakers with toggle switches to activate each one, along with a master toggle for an amp, and a volume control knob as well. All these switches will be under one master control unit (a UMPC). Below is a really quick 3D draft of what I'm talking about. If anyone knows where I can get switches needed for this, or would like to help me figure out how to do this (things like whether or not I can use a toggle switch in line on an audio cable) in the cheapest way possible, please let me know. Thanks!

Well you can get the audio toggle switches off ebay, internet audio/electronics shops or radio shack. If each speaker wire goes to its individual switch before joining the main power loop then you can switch all or any of them in and out as you wish, as long as the power rating is not too much to blow any of the speakers. You may have to have a resistance on the off-side of each switch to simulate the speaker load when it's not on, so that if you go from all 6 to just one, the single speaker does not blow from having all the power instantly surging through it separately.
Does that make sense?
If you want a wiring diagram, I would suggets you post up the details on the Guitar-nuts.com forum, some very clever and knowledgeable guys there and a very helpful bunch, even though it's not really guitar-related, they are gurus at all things audi/electronic. Good luck
Thanks
Well, that's a good start. The only issue I have at this point is the sheer number of wires I'll be working with. This is for my car, and I don't want a bundle of 100 wires going in and back out of this thing (as in like speaker wires running in and back out for the switches). I WANT to do it this way - but can anyone suggest another way to use the toggle switches to interrupt the audio maybe from an electronics standpoint? I will post on that forum though.

Also, what do you mean about the speaker wire "joining the main power loop?" At this point I just plan on having wires from each speaker go through the toggle switch and then to the amp's audio-out jack... Like I said, I'm not an electronics expert.
