g25 terror help
I got my g25 today and am finding it comletely alien to use. I cannot get the hang of it, my lap times are way off compared to joypad and when trying to drift it is impossible I cannot even do a donut near as good as with the joypad.

Just wondering was it the same for everyone else? Also any setup tips?

Thanks.
Give it a day or two. Took me a few days to get used to my MOMO when I switched from a controller.
Hey don't use my name in vain

I would say it's just because it's new to you, mine felt a bit odd at first after using the mouse...persevere and I'm sure you will get there and enjoy it.

There is plenty of advice on G25 settings in the forum, just do a search and I'm pretty sure you will get all the info you need. I don't think I changed any of the settings on mine except the wheel turn settings depending on which car I'm driving....it seemed to work fine 'out of the box'. I tend to have the in game force feedback settings quite low as long stints driving with the settings up high hurt my arms

Mr. Muscle, *not*

But yeah don't expect WR times instantly as it will never happen, just take your time and you'll be OK with it. I had the same problem when I got my DFP, at first I really didn't agree with it and was debating whether or not to sell it. 8 Months on and I'm glad I kept it because I wouldn't be people to play without it!
I had the same sort of experience getting my G25, I was just completely unknown to the power that it had and the different feel, but after using it for a month or so, going back to my Momo feels awful and the G25 is wonderful. Just give it time and if you are drifting, maybe use a smaller lock and weaker FFB even though the G25 motors are ****ing quick, even faster than your arms can move the wheel.
thanks for the info lads, I'll keep at it so and see if it feels a bit more natural in a few days.

To be honest, I would give it a few weeks. Be patient, and you WILL be rewarded.
I've had my G25 since March and I'm still beating my PB's by 2-3 seconds from when I was a keyboard user. Everyone has teething problems when first starting off with a wheel. I used to race the FOX all the time with my keyboard, then I could handle it with a wheel Then I got used to it after driving easier cars. Now I am alive and kicking with the FOX beating my PB by the week.

Just give it a a couple of weeks max and you will be beating your PB's.

When i got my g25 i was slower 2-3 secs at every combo, but in a few days i was beating my pb's more than a sec! Just gotta get used to it,needs time

Do you drive in real life, if not then you have a lot to learn and it will take time to adjust.
Yes, I drive a 180sx in real life and it is fairly similar spec to the xrt, 250bhp and 251ft/lbs. I compete in drifting also so I know what I should be feeling through the wheel but it just feels strange. I have not had a chance to play much yet, I'll probably get loads of practice at the weekend so hopefully I'll see some improvement then.

Thanks for the replys.
After a bit of practice hotlapping at the weekend I have caught up with my joypad times and actually beat it buy .3 of a second so I'm 1.3 seconds off the WR.

But for drifting I have improved a little, only I cannot drift anywhere near as good as I could with the joypad. It gets really frustrating because I think I have the hang of it but it does not seem to work like real life, only when I watch a replay I can see how it went wrong.
Thank you AndroidXP that has completely fixed my problem. WOW what a difference it is axcactly like real life!
When I moved from a joystick to my first wheel, a Formula Force GP, and was trying to drive GPL, I wondered if I'd ever be able to control the car with it. I almost went back to the joystick. It sounds so stupid, it's a steering wheel FFS

But yes, just keep using it. You'll get there.
