Hi all! I just got an idea now about how the devs could release information on whats new in the next patch or how it differs from the preceding patch. It would be nice for us so that we know what the devs have planned for the next patch and also, should help stop all the pointless questions. Just an idea to the devs.

I know that it was like that in a way with Patch X but we only realised that it would be like that because of the test patches but if we didn't have test patches, I doubt we would've known what X would have. I just think it would be nice to know what the devs are working on .

Well, I don't think there is much the devs are hiding really. There are teasers of the coming patch usually a bit before it comes out. It's just that the devs don't want to promise anything too soon, because it may turn out in the end that it can't be made in that patch. Anyway Sacwen has already revealed some of the things the next patch will have and there will probably be teasers later on when the patch is in a more ready state.

"Physics updates will come some time after that, probably in version Y and will include updated car cockpits (most notably the GTR interiors) and a graphically improved version of South City. We can't give any more detailed time estimates for those patches because we don't know what will come up while we are working on them."

Thanks Don for that but where do you get this information? is it like hidden in one of those test patch threads?

I think so, the forum is still there but it's hidden unless you get a direct and you can't post there.

Scawen posted details about whats coming, I'm pretty sure in was posted in this section, within a post about something else...unfortunately.

Eric has been working on car interiors, for GTR cars and other cars. The detail level is higher than the old cars. He's recently done a large update on South City and is also working on various other Track Updates.

Though personally I don't understand why is it that hard to post a teaser screenshot e.g. from the new interiors? What kind of dev doesn't like teasing players? Ok not releasing screens is teasing also, but it's more annoying to see something you can't yet play

I think the problem comes along the lines of... Imagine this Scenario...

Scawen - in the forth coming patch there will be new Red apples, which we have been working on for a few months. A new banana, slightly larger than the last one, we will up date the grapes and correct the outline of the Pineapple, as we noticed it was not the correct variety for this time of year.

I dont like red apples. I thnk the bannanas are fine as they are. The grapes do need work - what are you doing to update them? Ive never liked the pineapples - I think you should release a pear.

Demo racer (with 1 post history about his apple peeling style) - When does the new patch come out - I need to try out my wide style peel man, I can do it real fast and all in 1 peice. You Devs promise so much and give nothing.

personally I feel its good the way it is - when new patches come out, its a suprise. Sure we may not like everything but hey - Thats just like Christmas.

We know vaguely whats happening in patch X. We sort of know what Scawens is working on now. (because hes posted it previously)

If you want to find that out, keep upto date on the forum every day or at least twice a week. Show some commitment to the sim and dont post suggestions in the general forum , use the suggestions forum.

CAll me selfish - but it takes time to keep up on this forum, it takes balls to post an opinion on this forum, and if someones gonna come in, who I know is a damn fast racer, has damn loads of potential to be one of the fastest racers in LFS, but cant be bothered, or just doesnt care about the main forum for what the game is about. Come on man - sort your self out, and get with the program....

When Vic let it slip that he figured S2 would be out one Christmas... It caused unceasing whining for half a millenia when it was delayed.

I was even surprised that Scawen mentioned released dates for X, but of course that was when everything major was already done. Imagine the uproar if he even mentioned the possibility of brake fade/heat/wear, and then he couldn't do it for this particular patch!

I think if the general public had some degree of maturity, and not thrown feces at him in the past, then Scawen might be more inclined to talk about his ideas.

Well, Widdow, thing is, I have something odd called a "life". I don't waste hours and hours of my day just reading forums. I like to get straight to the racing when it comes to LFS and if I feel that something could be changed or improved or an important topic that I see, I either make a new thread or post in a topic which is mainly why this forum was designed, to help the devs improve the simulator.

Simple really, I just don't want to waste hours and hours of my time to read a load of c*ap most of the time (not ALL the time but most ).

There is also a rather handy search function which can be usefall if you do not frequent these forums. Please do try in future
