I have tried to download a couple of dds files for xrt tail lights but they're not working. I overwrote the old xrt_interior1 dds file, is this the right thing to do? Do I need a program to make them work?

What do you mean they don't work? Can you see the original lights still? Has the lights detail gone altogether? Are they completetly ruined? Or is the car the same and you dont see the NEW lights implying that the old ones still work?

BTW: You have to restart LFS to see any new lights. So do that if you haven't yet done so. You dont see new lights appear if you copy the files while you are running LFS at the time.
