It says it can't find Blackwood. Instructions say:

"Create a "smx" folder inside your "lfs\data" folder and place the contents of this zip file in that folder."

But there's already an "smx" folder. The "contents of the Zip" is folder "SMX_PTH_S2U". I've tried putting that in the original "smx". And copying "Blackwood_3DH.smx" separately to the "smx". What am I doing wrong?

Didn't want to get into all this really, but I give up; I can't get within 4.5 sec of the (XRG) WR 1:32:750 with my G25 and H-shifter

That's right - place the contents of this file -
http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/SMX_PTH_S2P.zip

in the LFS/data/smx folder. It should work. There a numerous .pth and .smx files in the zip.
Hang on, the "contents" of the zip file is a folder (SMX_PTH_S2P) full of files. Is it this folder, or just the files in it that should be copied to the "smx"? :homersimp
I did try copying the files on their own, but windows said there were some hidden ones amongst them so I didn't do it.

Just extract the individual files to the "smx" directory, no subdirs.
OK, I made the file contents of the extracted directory all visible, and copied them to the original smx directory in LFS. That worked. Thanks.

So that's 'place contents of directory extracted - not contents of zip file - into smx'.

Anyway, I see what the fast guy's doing. Whether I can do that is another thing...
Not really a good idea trying to go WR pace straight away. Go at your own pace & build on that. Try Bobs easy 2 drive setups & learn the Blackwood layout then you could start pushing to improve your PB.

LFS is a learning & development thing I have been playing for well over two & a half years & am still 1.6 secs off the WR. A mid to low 1.36 would be a good benchmark for a demo racer.
But I thought all my previous shortcomings were the fault of Gran Turismo and GTL's physics. I assumed I'd automatically be a genius at this from the start.

Point taken!

1.36 .. OK, thanks for that. That's useful.
