Why do slow drivers keep coming out and making threads proclaiming that they are not slow?

It's always "Oh, the car damage is unrealistic, you couldn't drive over those curbs in real life, that's why others are faster than me" or "The tyres are all wrong, I've seen people sliding around and they are fast! I drive smooth and realistic, that's why others are faster than me."

When we get physics patches, LOOK OUT! All these drivers who were previously 3(!) seconds off the pace are going to be killing us all!

Sure mate, you are 3 seconds off the pace because you don't cut the chicane.... you just keep telling yourself that...
No, I think I'm only losing .5 maybe 1 there. The rest is braking too early on T1 and maybe 25m too early on the other 2 brake zones.

I started trying the near 50 brake zone for T1 and can see how I have been doing it somewhat wrong, or too cautious.

So, I can say that I AM slow. thanks
Cargo, it would be very helpful if you post replay of your best lap. Go drive hot lapping whit ballast on. Also, that set of biernot rox and i did 1:41.37 whit it, so set is totally ok.

You have to realize a lot of things before you get fast lap times, some of them are: Exit is most important if there is long streight. Sensitive (not 100% pressed pedal) Late braking + trailbraking brings extra tents. Aggressive downshifting closes brake distance. Cutting curbs brings extra time (but cutting some curbs won't help you at all!!!!! you need to know which one to cut, wich not ) Drifting in helps exit speed (mostly whit road cars and BF1 ) Smoothen steering is best way to go. Gentle on throttle is best possible way to do it, any drift on exit will just lose your time... and so on. But you need to feel all those things, discover them by yourself, and stop putting yourself limits. Anyone can do anything so can you. Just think that way. Use WR settings, use WR cutting curbs etc. Discovering all this is fun, i garante you that. There is no bigger enjoyment then watching your times coming down

Now go out and do new PB

Bawbag what are you talking about
Kerbs
As far as I'm aware, the kerbs DO constitute part of the track.

Every drivers briefing I've ever been to in the last ten years has indicated that driving on the kerbs is fine, driving on the far side of the kerbs is NOT.

Btw. you are going to fast into T1. If we are talking about FZR. 105 mph is ideal. 110 is too fast. It's not all about apex speed. There is looong looong streght after T1 and it's very important to have as bigger as possible speed on exit, same goes to chicane.

cheers

Not entirely true, i used to do apex's of around 114 mph and i'd be at 151 by the little right hand kink when i was running in the GTR league races there. but the set has really gotta be hooked up, the trick is to get right as much as possible then get the apex without clipping the curb or else you will loose rear wheel traction.
Quote from samdale : driving on the far side of the kerbs is NOT.

That's what we were talking about. 2 in the dirt, 2 on the kerb.

Thanks for the tips all. I'll get a 44 soon I think. I was testing some last night and was getting low-mid 45's without really stressing. So its' there, I just need to work on it some more.

I'll post a replay when I finish my Flying Lizard FZR skin
Thanks for the settings and tips guys. that'll keep me amused this weekend. I'll let you know how I get on. Can't wait to see the Flying Lizards skin. Is it the LeMans special or the regular ALMS version?
LeMans special

Don't know if I'll be able to do it right, I am noob skinner, but I'm long time Illustrator user. I found a good 2D render of it on a blog that has Top/Right/Left views which seem just perfect for skinning in LFS, if I can make it fit.

Oh heck, I'll go ahead and share here..

I'd love to be the first one to skin this, but I'm sure there are great many more talented LFSer's that would do a better job of it. So there it is, have at it.

I'll still try it myself though
Quote from Bawbag :What, you told me that 99% of the crap you say is a lie, then you come out and tell the truth!!!!

Ps. Sorry for spam, had to.

Sssssssssttt, that's something private between us, and it was 50% bull***** not 99%.. Well to you it's 99% because having a meaning full conversation isn't something we have had
Well I tried the Biernot setting and got down to a string of low 1:43s, with a 45 best T1; definitely some improvement then. And the tyres lasted 10 laps. I wound the braking down to 1650/64 and that seemed to help a lot – I was locking up all over with the original figures; probably because I can't bring myself to use aggressive downshifting to it's full barbaric extent. Just listen to that poor abused transmission! I'll have a go at some of Cargo's settings to see what they do for me, and maybe even try to photoshop that Flying Lizards skin if I get the time. Thanks again for the help guys. See you online sometime.
Quote from Cargo :I don't hate or dislike. I just try to not cut. I also needed some feedback (thank you) in order to help me understand where my missing lap time is. Besides just being slower.

Look up video of last week's NASCAR race at Sonoma. Watch any of the replays of F1 races, ALMS, etc. As somone else pointed out, if they can get away with it, they will.

I know in LOTA we define "on track" as follows: "On The Track": "On the track" is defined as racing surfaces (tarmac on racing circuit and tarmac/dirt as required in rally & special courses), curbs, and "green concrete" (or other similar surfaces outside the curbs).

As long as you keep two wheels "on track" you are good.

As for ASNat, yes it is important to get through the last chicane as quickly as possible. However, the first part is not as important as the last part. The last part lets you out the long straight, and if you are slow through the last part, or have a poor line and can't get into the throttle early enough, you will lose a lot of time on the front straight. Being fast through the first part will shave you a tenth or two. Having a good line where you can feed the power on early and keep the car as straight as possible coming on the front will gain you several tenths.

Slow really is fast.
watching last F1 race in France remember me on this aston chicane. Magny-Cours chicane has big curbs and everyone cuts them (specially alonso), so hell yea LFS is real
#39 - Jakg
LFS tracks are often inspired by real tracks - KY Nat is Indy, Aston GP takes a lot of bends from Magny-Cours
Don't you mean Daytona? tri-oval with T-shaped infield?

show me one turn at aston that is similar to magny cours.

or did you mean spa?
