Newbie Friendly Servers?
Hey all,
Just bought s2 a few days ago, and to be honest, I haven't been thrilled with the community.
In my first s2 race, I was banned for not getting out of the way of the blue flag quickly enough. I've been screamed at for being a n00b when I drive to slowly, and told to go practice offline if I announce that I'm new and may make a mistake.
Now, I'm not a horrible driver. I'm usually about 10 seconds behind WR if I'm comfortable with the combo, I don't spin out all the time, I don't cause all kinds of accidents, and I do my best to clear the track when I get a blue flag.
To be honest, I've driven at least as much on the demo servers as on s2 servers since I got my license. The drivers on demo servers are a lot more friendly, and thus it's a much better experience.

I was hoping that the community would be a bit more helpful and friendly, maybe helping out those who are slower get up to speed rather than frantically banning them if they brake too early for a corner.
I didn't spend 50 bucks so I could hotlap by myself for the next 6 months...

So my question is, are there servers that are friendly and helpful to those starting out?

hey, welcome to the forum

my mate spankey does be over at the Dead Men Racing server, there a groove bunch who like noobs, just go over and drive a few laps and ask around for him
good luck.
+1 for Dead Men Racing. They're a good bunch over there, and they run a good variety of different cars/tracks which is a nice change from all the servers that run the same combo every night for over a year and somehow manage not to get bored to death with it...

Nice to see another bassist in LFS too. We've got a few of those.
Thanks for the suggestion guys... Nobody was on the dead men server tonight, but their forums seem like a good place to be.
Although I logged onto the RIP server tonight and had a wonderful time. My faith in the lfs community is restored.

(I find that bassists make any place nicer to be
I guess it depends on which server you join. As a newbie who's not yet familiar with all the cars/tracks you don't wanna join a server with 20+ people on it who are familiar. Even if you do try to clear the way as much as possible, you'll still be getting in the way of a lot of drivers who will get annoyed at you. Try joining servers with fewer people on, and yes, practising offline helps to get familiar with the car/track combo.

Once you improve your driving and you're not an utter noob anymore, you'll find that the LFS community really is friendly and helpful.

Also, don't worry too much about that ban: it seems that 75% of people just hit the '1' key whenever someone votes to kick/ban someone, whether they know the reason for it or not. Sad but true.
Hiya m8, you are welcome on our servers, just let us know you are new and we will help you out with sets/advice. Our servers are [SR] Race Server 1,2 & 3. We welcome all drivers as long as you are clean and observe blue flags etc.. You could also check out our website www.sonicrealmsracing.co.uk, I'm sure all our members would be willing to help in any way we can.

Happy racing

I never would have thought I would live to see the day that this sentence would appear.

Nope, nor did i. And it's clearly wrong so i hope Bassism finds some decent people to enjoy S2 with, as there's plenty of us about

A couple of the popular servers get a bit to ban happy from what i've seen, but there's been some great recommendations in this thread. I'd say Dead Men Racing is a great choice..really friendly guys if you behave like a civilised racer (i must get in there again...haven't visited for ages) And look out for the new CTRA servers when they arrive... They were the best servers by far IMHO, and are going to be better than ever on their return.

Welcome to S2 Bassism
