Quote from kiss me :yay, going to get my new parts(or order) em this afternoon, in 1 hour,
i will get :
4gig ram(2x g.skill 2gig)
amd athlon 64 x2 am2 6000+
and a gigabyte mobo,
and offcourse some nice modding parts like a new mouse

Dont!

4 GB Ram = Overkill
6000 = Overpriced, get an E6600, it's faster, cooler, cheaper etc.
Get a nice Asus P5K to go with and a new fan and for the same price you've got a lovely overclocking PC if you need it
Quote from jegorchangai :Bit dumb too take 4gb if your processor isnt fast enough to handle it.
Very few processors can handle 4gb faster then 2/2,5 gb

...?

What do you mean "if your processor isn't fast enough" - the amount of RAM is limited by the mobo (although i'm sure theres some silly limit like 1 TB on the CPU). Heck, on an Intel system the CPU doesn't even have anything to do with the memory because the memory controller is on the mobo!
i couldnt order anyway :s the shop was closed ill have a look for a mobo

:X why buy such an expensive CPU and use old RAM and an AGP card?
Quote from Jakg ::X why buy such an expensive CPU and use old RAM and an AGP card?

ill buy new ram, just dunno wich 1, i've got the agp card for christmas, so i cant change now :s

Either way i would get the E6600 over the E6700, or more precisely wait for the Q6600
#33 - Jakg
The E6700 is overpriced, dont bother.

That mobo is crap, don't bother.

Do you need 4 GB of RAM?!

Why use a 7600GS with that hardware, it's wasting it all

then what should i get?? i'm not getting a new vid card, i just like ram
#35 - Jakg
Erm, i'd recommend waiting for the price drop and get a Q6600, an Asus P5K (or the DDR2/3 Gigagbyte DS3R), 2 GB of PC8500 RAM and an 8800GTS320
whats the piont of buying a quad core atm jack ?
#37 - Jakg
atm? not really worth it, but more and more things are getting multi-threaded - t'would be like buying a single core 6 months ago.

the E6700 is the same price as what the Q6600 will be, i'd rather loose .2 GHz and gain 2 extra cores, tyvm
i cant get the asus p5k, cuz its pci-e!!
owkey, lets look for a pci-e mobo,
cheap, good, dual pci-e and alot of ram support

Either you get a crappy mobo with agp or you join the future of PCI-e.

Why do you need so much RAM? And how cheap?

The Gigabyte DS3 is cheap, you can go cheaper but imo it's better to get a decent mobo and a decent CPU, rather than the slightly better CPU and a crappy mobo. What PSU do you have?

a brand new good 550w psu dunno the brand
sweex i think
about 70 usd for a vid card max
http://www.asbcomputers.be/index.html
go to the bottom and pick a pci-e card max 50€
#42 - Jakg
How do you know it's good if you don't know the brand?

Once again, you do NOT want to skimp on a cheap mobo or a PSU, as you'll need the £50 you save when it kills your £750 PC :P

I've watched a Q-Tec PSU burn through my £70 mobo that was a gift, and it wasn't pleasant
its an x.super psu
#44 - Jakg
I've never heard of it, which is usually a bad sign.

What is the current system your looking at?
amd sempron 2400 @ 1600
msi 7600gs
x.super 550w psu
1gig ram(2x 512)
abit va-20 mobo
#46 - Jakg
I meant looking at buying... (And a budget!)
#48 - Jakg
its all i need, i'm sticking with agp, later in 2 years or so ill get a new mobo, its not that expensive so upgrading is ok...
i've made my list, my dad needs to pay
bout 240€
my bro pays 50€ or 1 ram(birthday)
i pay 50€ on ram
i pay around 100€ for cooling
#50 - Jakg
....if your sticking with AGP then theres no point in going Core 2 Duo, a top end (or overclocked) 939/AM2 will give you the same performance because of the 7600GS.

£67 on cooling...?! What are you planning on doing?

new motherboard and other hardware
