It would have been much funnier (?) if he would have got the last xbox, broken that and the a guy next in the queue (waiting for days to get one :P) would have panicked and sliced him on the street.
Oh my precious, what that evil man did to you. Don't worry, I'll fix ya, my babie! :slap:
Just joking, geeks can't slice anything. (not that I've tried)
If ppl wanna pay 1500$ for an Xbox, then I dont really see a problem with ppl selling them for that much, more power to them if there are ppl willing to spend the money. I think ill just spend my 1500$ on a new pc...., no wait, I dont have 1500$, oh well guess ill just have to keep this machine an play my PS2 when I wanna get away from the pc(I work on pc so sometimes after a long day of work LFS just isnt an option)
That's not even almost true dude.
If it was, Blockbuster video stores would file one hell of a lawsuit.
As far as console games goes, I rarely buy them. We rent most and since
most usually suck, that's as far as it gets. In fact, with the exception of the GTA series, we WON'T buy a game without renting it first. Almost everyone
I know is like that with video games for any system.
Sony isn't THAT stupid to do that
Also I don't care how good the X-box is, it ain't worth 1500 US or even 500 IMO. Same goes for the upcoming PS-3. LOL if it does sell for that much, then I guess when the PS-2 craps out, we'll go back to board games
Besides the main thing that put me off with the X-box is the lame controller. They're still using that design for the 360, so to me the thing is useless.
And speaking of controllers.... I understand that they are going to be wireless..... WHy would you need to take your controller from the immediate vicinity of the game system to begin with? I think that they did that, knowing the controllers will eventually get lost and broken faster, resulting in an increase of aftermarket sales.
Don't believe me? think of how many remotes you've had to replace
after they fell between the couch cushions and some one found it later when it crunched after they sat on the couch. I think Sony and MS are banking on that to happen with their controllers
Just an FYI, they don't over heat. But the crashing comes from the same problem as in the old xbox. The PSU. The PSU Bricks are in two flavors, light grey, and dark grey. The light grey PSU's don't have the power to run the xbox, causing massive problems when you boot them up.
The eating games is also only if you use it vertical. The same happened in the PS2 when you ran it vertical, just not this bad.
I'm with you, if idiots want to pay that, then more power to the one who thought of buying one or extras to sell. It doesn't make much sense to me since it isn't out of production or anything.
Now, before I found LFS (S2), I was desperately trying to find a copy of NR2003. I had just gotten a computer that could finally run it and I really wanted it bad (I was still racing offline ICR2). That was at the end of 2004 after Papyrus quit. You could occasionally find used copies on e-bay for around $50. I found my copy at a local store that buys out inventories. I paid $7.99 for it and out of curiousity, counted how many copies they had - I counted 97 copies. Being that until S2, NR2003 was still the king of all sims and very rare to find, I had the notion of buying all 97 copies. Now I look on e-bay and see new copies being bid for $139.00. I could kick myself for not picking up at least a handful. But unlike the still in production XBox, this is a still very sought after out-of-production product. I just checked and it looks like it is averaging $40, but I did see one a few months ago with a $139 bid.
I really don't believe the increase of aftermarket sales is any big point. It's more about that the console looks better when it's got those wireless controllers. Imagine if a young kiddie and his parents went to buy a console and they are thinking in the store which one to buy. Wireless controllers may have some extra powah(!) here. People don't know that the wireless stuff needs batteries and that there is a small delay in the signal...
Why do we need wireless mice or keyboards? For the same reason we "need" wireless game controllers. Btw. even the 8bit nintendo (NES) had wireless controllers (accesories), don't know were they any good...
Of course the main point in console gaming is to make money. As it is with computer games and everywhere else. The money comes from games, not from game controllers. If I remember right it's very hard to sell any additional devices for consoles, people don't know about them. Didn't N64 have a cd-player? And they need in-game support. I remember that in PS1 there were many light guns and some games, but they weren't compatible.
And do the majority of 360 buyers read any reviews about the console or even know that there might be problems with "game eating" or "over heating PSUs"?
And all my remotes are in good shape and I've never lost one. It's not surpsizing that there is no warranty for the remotes. I've heard some people using them as hammers
I find little fanboys like you funny. You really think MS are losing money?
Far far from it dear boy. If anyone is losing money it is Sony with the PS3 and the sales they wont be making for a long time due to the system overheating and melting. Why do you think Sony are pushing their PSP. It's the only market Microsoft haven't hit yet. The xbox was their foot in the door, the xbox 360 is them kicking the door down and raping Sony.
The only reason why MS chose to rape the console market is becuase they couldn't do anything else as far as the home computer goes or face monoplization suits. So they branced out, and decied to over throw the next popular maket. Want to know how MS tried to start? They wanted to buy out Nintendo, Nintendo turned them down with a bitch slap to the chops. So they turned to making their own stand in the market.
And with how consoles sell, most people only buy one console from each gen, and the first console out the door wins. Microsoft have won this round, bar the hardcore gamers, collectors, or fanboys, no one will buy the PS3 if they already have the 360.
I agree with MOST of above....but the psp doesnt need to be pushed it is a great gaming console....of which microsoft will be a late starter again...having said that i have played the xbox360....AND FFS!!! this console is CRAZY!!!
it is fantastic....i havn't played the ps3 so i cant comment on it but the xbox360 is amazing!
i cant really agree psycoman, the xbox was bought out early to get its foot in the door, but the PS3 is a far superior console, and i doubt people will be able to get their hands on them beofre the vital run up to christmas period. i remember hearing why xbox 360 wouldnt win the market this time, but i cant remember why
You cannot say a console is better then another just by paper. No one can say anything about the PS3 in terms of being a better console just because the paper says otherwise. Look at computers for one. Paper says Intel P4's are better then AMD Athlons... they are far from it. Paper said the nVidia FX Range was better then the ATi 9x00 range and the nVidia gefo4 Ti range. Again, far from it.
If MS worked out the launch problems before launch (how they never noticed them god only knows), or if they supplied more units, then the xbox360 would have won the battle for next-gen. And with Nintendo and Sony not looking like they will have anything until next year, and the new shipments of the 360 already being packed and shipped out, the battle looks won for Microsoft, the war however, only time will tell.
The only reason people said the 360 would fail hands down (from what I know), is backwards compatabality, and the early talk of a no go. Now it is possable if you get the HDD, that isn't an issue unless you buy the core system.
The lack of stock is a market ploy. Just think of all the publicity these consoles get when they are in limited stock. With all the free advertising by the press pushing forward how limited they are peoples parents rush down to get them for their kids presents. If Microsoft really wanted to they could easily have a constant flow of stock churning out some Chinese factory or wherever their built
Next year I'm pre ordering a PS3 and sticking it on eBay after seeing the money xbox 360s are reaching on eBay
