I hope this option is removed in the next patch... otherwise i fear the LFS community will be split.
It's an uncomfortable view and you see a HELL of a lot less than you do sitting in a real car or race car. For that view to work properly you need 3 monitors.
If players want to use CV that's fine but why should the rest of us have to suffer just because some people like a particular view?
Maybe we should force clutch pedal option and a force shifter option server side too!? Not!

I can't say i want FCV removed, it's a good option for hard core competitions cause other views really can be a plus, and it has been proven with the LX month.
I would just like the option to have x,y,z sliders in the cockpit view also, rather than to move view only with FOV which is really bad as the picture gets all distorted.

I am driving IRL for 17 years now.
I am faster on the wheels view, but i only drive LFS in cockpit view. Always takes some time getting used to, but for MY eyes it's worth it. The reason is simply the immersion factor - i'm also faster with the paddles, but drive only with the H shifter, and have all help features like automatic clutch always off.

Why? Cause of the immersion factor. That's how i get the best experience out of the game, and i really don't care if i'm slower or not.

And i really think that people do participate in online races for the experience, no matter what view they use. So i'll just back the suggestion that (oups dont remember the name and really dont remember in which of the 100 threads about FCV it was) had, for server admins to have the option to Force whichever view they prefer. That beeing cockpit, chace, wheel or whatever

Yes, it is good to look this subject once really well and thoroghly so we can bury it to past in future

I drive real car on road and sometimes on race track too, cockpit view is realistic one for me (like sitting in car seat) and I'm hoping to setup some nice screen in future that is almost 2m wide so I can get 1:1 picture of car inside into it

If everyone has the same options then it is not an unfair advantage. If someone prefers an option that puts them at a disadvantage then that's their choice. It is impossible to have everyone on exactly equal footing unless everyone used the exact same wheel, the exact same options, the exact same computer. With your logic you can say having vision is a big plus to being able to drive around the track, since some people(at least one at some time) prefer not to use their sight let's make everyone race blindfolded.

But thats just it everyone doesn't have the same options, we all have different hardware Some have 3 screens they have a definate advantage imo even if we are all forced to use cockpit view.

To me it's not about what "looks" the most realistic but about what feels the most realistic which is why i like wheels view as it makes up for the lack of depth perception and the additional FOV we have in real life in a small way.
