£67 on cooling...?! What are you planning on doing?

cpu cooling
harddrive cooling
chipsetcooling
case cooling
pci slot cooling
#52 - Jakg
CPU cooling - £15 (Actic Freezer 7 Pro - or are you an OC nutter?)
HDD Cooling - Pointless
Chipset Cooling - £10, although imo pointless unless your planning massive OC's
Case Cooling - 2x 80 MM Fans, £9 (although these should really come with your case!)
PCI Slot Cooling - WTF?!

You might want:
GFX cooling - £20 (Zalman VF700 - unless your voltmodding its all you need)
Thermal Paste - £5, Arctic Silver 5

Stock is good enough if you run unoverclocked, and if your overclocking you really only need the AS5 and CPU cooling...

Even if you bought all of that it's £60 which imo is not worth it (this coming from the Water Cooler, how ironic!)
i dont really plan on overclocking..
the case cooling is very loud
pci slot cooling is a thingymagic that u put in the case, and it has 2 fans cooling your graphics card
chipset cooling: for later, but could look nice
hdd cooling: its going pretty hot my hdd, but ill buy this cooling later tho
cpu cooling: i want a nice silent cooler when i overclock, ill overclock a little bit, i dont want to much heat spreading because my graphics card is overclocked...
i'm buying pci slot cooling and cpu cooling for shure, the rest, ill see
pci slot coolers:

does different brands of thermal paste really make a difference?
Quote from Jakg :Chipset Cooling - £10, although imo pointless unless your planning massive OC's

depends on the chipset ... the p965 runs at ridiculous temps even at 200 mhz bus touching the passive cooler on my dads gigabyte ds3 is highly non enjoyable (well at least it means they put some good thermal grease under the cooler)
but id rather calculate with some ~5€ or less for that

Quote :PCI Slot Cooling - WTF?!

id consider this as case cooling ie a fan that blows onto the pci slots

Quote :Thermal Paste - £5, Arctic Silver 5

id go with the zalman paste or something else thats more fluid for a user who isnt very experienced with thermal pastes

Case Cooling is loud? Bang, £20's worth of SilenX fans, bloody quiet and LOVELY airflow.

PCI Slot Cooling is COMPLETELY pointless and does all of about 1° of difference to the GFX card.

CPU cooling wont make any extra heat in the case if you've got good airflow

EDIT Shot - NB coolers provide less improvement vs $ compared to using AS5 on the chipset
Quote from Jakg :EDIT Shot - NB coolers provide less improvement vs $ compared to using AS5 on the chipset

i didnt mean an nb cooler in the usual sense as in a block of metal you put onto the thing but rather buying a small fan for ~50 cent you screw on the existing cooler of the nb which helps a lot with keeping down temps for almost no expense and/or work at all

Quote from kiss me :you should hear my pc, the fans r freekin loud man!
i'm checking for an nice cpu cooler

You should hear my undervolted Akasa Ambers, bloody quiet, throttle them up for a game (when you cant hear them over the game) and they aren't that loud.

could you give a link

Can't you just search for them? they aren't the best, but just get some fans running 22 dB or less moving 20 CFM or more, although stuff like the SilenX fans make more CFM (which means they move more air).

Of course, make sure you use the right size fan for your case (they come in 80, 92 & 120 mm sizes)
AGP ???
is it 1999??

ive got an artic cooling freezer 7 pro and its great and deadly quiet,
listen to jak
ok, went to the shop, they didnt deliver that mobo anymore, my dad convinced me to put my agp card online, and he'll buy an pci-e card for me
ill take the intel dual core E6600 gigabyte t5b or something(the 1 jakg mentioned before) and bout 4 gig ram NOW: whats the best card to get for the lowest price?
bout cheapest to 150€
Quote from Dennisjr13 :You can get an Evga 8600GTS for 150€ I think (according to google's conversion). I also have one and have no problems in Vista.

thanks, will it be better/cheaper if i buy 2 cheaper cards and put em in sli...
or buy a very good card now, but that works in sli...
max price range is now 200€ i have enough cash, but need to buy ram etc olso...
any mobo that you suggest? cuz the 1 jakg said is way to expensive

Quote from kiss me :cuz the 1 jakg said is way to expensive

your aiming too high and getting poor quality essential parts if you scrimp.

Don't bother with the 8600GTS, get a x1950 Pro instead
i've been gone for a while , but i'm coming back
tonight i will order my parts via msn with the shop owner, i was there yesterday after 45 min we still couldnt decide
specs:
intel dual core E6600 or E6750
4gb ram
and asus p35 or so,
he adviced me for: fsb 1333 and 45nm support
the gfx card:
eeh msi x2600 or so
or the gb x2600
direct x 10
and good for my budget
any other tips?
the mobo: +- 100€
gfx card: 150€+- each
they need to support crossfire tho
these are some card i like, all ati, i seem to like ati
all crossfire, and the prices r low, there are msi, sapphire and asus cards:
i seem te get the feeling that this 1 is the best
http://global.msi.com.tw/index ... =1281&maincat_no=130#
but this 1 seems te support higher resolution buts doesnt say that much specifications
http://www.sapphiretech.com/ne ... ew.php?gpid=179&grp=3
same but different
http://www.sapphiretech.com/ne ... ew.php?gpid=180&grp=3
asus but olso not much info:
http://www.asus.nl/products.as ... odel=1733&modelmenu=1

wich 1 do you gus suggest?
thnx
#69 - Jakg
Why does the mobo have to support CrossFire? IMO your better getting a CPU like the E6550 or the E6320 and get a better GFX card because tbh those ATi x2600's are naff
then what gfx card do u suggest that will still be good and up to date in a couple of months
so, any ideas?
since those cards are sold out in belgium and germany(www.alternate.de)
i'm foing for the 2600
whats the difference between the 2 cards and wich 1 is better?
http://www.alternate.de/html/p ... 249&showTechData=true
http://www.alternate.de/html/p ... 633&showTechData=true
its an HIS card and sapphire card, all same specs, different brands
this 1 same, but gecube
http://www.alternate.de/html/p ... 737&showTechData=true
club 3d version:
http://www.alternate.de/html/p ... 677&showTechData=true
asus version:
http://www.alternate.de/html/p ... 197&showTechData=true
some nvidea cards i like:

Just FYI, most cards will perform the same even though they come from different companys, they just take the PCB, throw their own heatsink on it, and sell it. There are certain exceptions, (iirc) a few brands hand select good overclocking cards and mount them with better heatsinks, or send out cards with higher clock speeds. Usually if a card from a different company cost more, it has to do with whats in the bundle.
