Forza 2
Righty here's what I make of it,

GUI:

Very baldly layed out. When entering a career race its very annoying having to go right back to 'My Cars' to change to another car. This is seen all through the gui...back.back.back.forward.forward....its annoying, why didnt they put a garage hotkey on the gui

Online Multiplayer:

8 cars. why? is it something to do with lag, maybe they guys in MS decided if we only allow 8 then the possibility of lag bugs and general bugs comeback would be kept to a minimal....I hope we see a patch for this soon.

Most hosts kick you for not using a mic? wtf...I don't want to use a mic and I've payed for the service and the game...but some sod just decides no, kick for no mic. There was only one server running yesterday evening and could not have a race because of the control that MS allowed the host to have over the game in exhibition mode...maybe give them admin options in career mode and tournament mode...not in exhibition mode...all one wants is a quick thrash about.

Career Mode:

This I feel is the biggest area the devs made a dogs dinner of. I constantley found myself de-tuning my cars to get a half decent race from the AI. The structure and layout of the whole career mode should have been given A LOT more thought in regards to balancing the classes as you progress through.

Music:
Don't even get me started

After 2 weeks im bored stiff and I'll probably sell it to Game for 13 quid or some mad price like that so they can either a). take it out back, stick it in that lovely CD refurbashing machine of theirs and sell it as new or b). they'll rob some other poor sod of €60 for it second hand.

I'll take my €13 thanks, I'm sick of it already...it's no sim...there is'nt even a cockpit view for God's sake....Yep tis right up there with NFS imo.
It's not a sim, but it's certainly nothing like the arcade trash that NFS became. Remember that it's a console game, so you must build it with the idea of appealing to the widest possible audience.

The UI is a bit clunky. Sometimes it can take a while to get from one place to another, that's true. But it's easy enough to see what you're looking for, even if it does take a couple of presses to get there. Not having a mouse definitely slows things down in menus.
Try CM: Dirt then talk to me about UIs

Online? Probably limited numbers because of the detail of the environments. While you can keep up 60fps with 8 cars on screen, sticking in another 8 might just kill it. I've never been kicked from a host, and I rarely plug my headset in. I think this hasbeen bad luck, unless your locality is different from mine (although I thought Europe was Europe).

Career mode is what you make of it. Some of the more advanced parts of the career are really hard, even with the AI on Easy. Maybe I'm suffering from using the joypad though.
So if it's too easy, try that

I turn music off in most games, so never really heard much of that

The lack of cockpit view was a disappointment to me. But as they said at development, to include the 300+ cars cockpits, plus the changes that are made from weight reduction upgrades and stuff, it wouldn't have all fit on the disc.

I wasn't disappointed, because I wasn't expecting LFS. Hardcore sims are still a niche market, and that's not who console developers sell to.

LFS trash arcade trash

...I think he was talking about 'arcade trash' as in the doing og trashing cars in an arcadeish manner
Oops, yes. Typo. I'll fix it now. I changed sentences half way through
Well on the back cover it says "racing simulation experience", it doesn't actually claim to be a simulator, and seriously I don't understand how someone could think it was. I didn't expect it to be like this when I bought it, but I can say that I was pleasantly surprised how good the feel for the cars was with pad, I love that scrubbing noise the tires make when you are really pushing it.

I can agree with the GUI part, when you are picking up a race you can't change your car if the one you are in is allowed. It's very irritating and shouldn't have been that hard to figure out or imply.

It's a good game, well made arcade car porn game I'd say.

The devs claim so. Though I think even they know they're talking bullshit, but they have to do it to make it sell a lot more which is why the whole game gives me dangerously high blood pressure.

Well, one got to be really naive to believe that kind of marketing speak, not even to mention after they've played it. I'd say it's somewhere between simulation and arcade, it's way too easy to drive to be a sim but on the other hand you can't drive the tracks with full throttle because you will crash if you try to. It's the closest you can get to a simulation with console games at the moment, it's not a simulator but at least the cars behave somewhat like real cars, and not like in GT.

Well...true, and true with any racing game fanatic, Forza, GT, GTR etc. But they just don't know any better.
The skinning stuff is awesome in Forza 2 (prolly the best part)... but we can do that with LFS, no? We just need an increase in wacky skins
