Frequent Graphical Glitches
I often get the kind of graphical glitches you can see in the attached screenshots. It may happen on every track, but it's never twice the same result. Switching from full screen to windowed mode and back corrects it for some time, but it will eventually do something similar again.

I suspect this is caused by my graphical card (ATI Radeon X1900 XT) or drivers (up-to-date), used at 1680x1050x32, but I don't know how to fix it. Any idea?

is that a subway system in south city?

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't help me much. Any other idea, folks?

Looks like overheating, so cleaning the card's heatsink and adding case fans could help. It it doesn't it's off to the mender's I think. They usually replace cards that are artifacting as long as you haven't been tampering with it.

EDIT: Does it do that in other games?
Those are definitely graphics card issues. Try cleaning out your drivers and using new ones, and/or make sure it isn't getting too hot. Newest drivers doesn't always mean 'better'. ATI usually will have issues with their drivers like this a lot.

Nothing more to say, because usually the easiest fix is a driver change

Play with your driver settings and optimisation as these can sometimes cause issues. Try a few differet AA/AF settings and quality settings to see if one of these is the cause.

Also if the ATI drivers are the latest and non of the above helps you could try the Omega drivers. I have used these on my Lappy with ATI9600pro for years and they have been stable for me. Not tested on newer cards though.

Thank you, guys. I'll try your suggestions. The only other game I play is RBR, but I haven't seen this kind of artifacts in it yet.

Hmm. I guess it could be driver issues. Wasn't there some ATI user in here with the same problem a few days ago?

For the records (and those who may find this thread because they have the same problem), here's what I figured out:

For some reason (probably drivers), the fan of my graphics card kept running at 32 % max, whatever the card's temperature. It seems that the artifacts start appearing when it reaches 75 or 80°C. So I'm now using ATITool to override the fan speed control, so the temperature doesn't exceed 70°C. And I'm no longer seeing any artifacts.
Thats some really stuff . Personally, I'm not sure if its been mentioned but sometimes when I'm driving, I see a spike of a texture just flickers on my screen once, can be a bit weird. At first, I thought I was seeing things but then payed more attention and found that its definitely a glitch. The car I use is an ATi Radeon 9250 SE if that helps.

Maybe its an ATi issue...

OT: Flip, how do you get that clock on the top left of the screen?

There's an option somewhere to replace the FPS with the current time. I can't check right now because I'm back in Mac OS, but I think it's in the Misc screen.

Update: actually, the one in my screenshots is displayed while viewing replays. This is new in patch X, but I didn't realize that it was displayed only when the time is displayed instead of the FPS. I thought everyone was seeing it. When driving, there's a simple clock that doesn't show the date. This one isn't new, though.
It's looking like it's an ATI problem. Probably driver related. I was getting the same artifacts with my 9700pro using the Omega drivers. I also got odd pink textures on the tarmac occasionaly, and some flashing textures on a couple of the South City tower blocks.

I'm not convinced it's heat related as LFS doesn't put too much pressure on the graphics card, and i was playing other more graphically demanding games with no problems at all.

Since moving to a nVidia 6800GS pcie I've had no problems graphics wise at all.
