I have often been bugged by people who want to know how to make shapes in photoshop for skinning.
So here is a tutorial using a very simple way.
It is not as difficult as other tools used to make selections.
The tutorial is in English/ German. If you see any spelling mistakes, please correct me. I'll update the tutorial.

Good tutorial; however, I would not recommend creating a selection with it. It should be used to create vector shapes instead; that way you can easily modify the shape you create to fix alignment across multiple panels. When you fill a selection, you have a raster image and then you can't modify it as easily to fix alignment or otherwise.

Just my 2 cents.
