New class idea - TC-T
People want touring cars in LFS. But however, all of the current LFS road cars are S2000 illegal because they are 2 door coupes - but 2 doorers are welcome in BTC-T. The Honda Integra is IMO the best looking car in the BTCC, looked great in Dave Pinkney's colours last year (black and pink). There were one or two BTC-T which were rear wheel drive (the Protons were I believe), they currently have a 30kg weight penalty, S2K or BTC-T.

BTC-T cars are 25hp powerful and 65 kilos heavier than S2000 cars. Both of them have 17 inch wheels. BTC-T cars are a little smaller. The front brakes are a bit bigger and the rear discs are only 1mm smaller. BTC-T cars had a spec sequential gearbox and slightly oversized rear wing.

It's not dead yet, BTC-Touring cars are still permitted in the BTCC (but they can't win the overall championship).

Possibly a BTC-P type class or similar with an XFG and UF1 based car. To be fair, the BTC-P head start for the sprint race idea was kinda silly. But when the production class was scrapped it got a bit more sensible. BTC-P resurrected the BTCC.

Would that sort of class be a good idea? Or would it be too similar to the UFR and XFR, only a little bigger?

^^ Who cares about RL touring cars anyway? The problem with modern touring cars, apart from the ridiculous amounts of contact and appalling driving standards is they are far too highly modified, they should be kept simple and near to the production cars as possible, what advantage do they gain from running slicks, sequential boxes, massive brakes and carbon fibre bodywork apart from incurring costs high enough to put off works teams.

What we already have in LFS is what touring cars should be, the TBO class and the XFR/UFR combo make good fun racing to I don't see the need to add a BTCC car.

You must be joking!
You'd rather race with road cars not meant for racing then race ready touring cars?
That's like saying that one should snowboard with a skate board, to keep it real.
Slightly breated on "clubman" versions of the UF1, XFG, XRG, FXO, RB4 and XRT would be good IMO.

Stripped out, rollcaged, slightly modded engines etc etc, would bridge the gap between the road cars and the full blown GTR class.
I think it would be great, i love the touring cars and would love to drive them in LFS

No the 'road' cars in LFS are effectively racing cars. How many road cars do you know with full race suspension, aftermarket LSDs, a complete range of gear ratios (no racing car has that IRL), live brake bias and roll bar adjustment, and infinite structural stiffness (stiffer than a rollcage).

Take a look at Bob's road going sets and compare the difference to the sets you normally use

Have a good look at those cars, and actually watch the BTCC on TV or see them live, and then tell me they bear resemblance to the LFS TBO cars.

But all LFS road cars should only have a little bit of final drive (3 options), almost no suspension settings, no live setings and so-on. It's just a little crazy.

What about a Clio Cup type car so some Cliomageddon can be recreated in LFS

^^ Erm Duke touring cars are meant to look like the production cars so I don't quite get what you think is wrong with how the TBO class look (except for the interiors and lack of rollcages)

The lack of the larger wings, in some touring classes the diffuser (not sure about S2K but SCC cars have them), the door sills on BTC-T cars etc.

But anyway, the TBOs would need to have more performance to be BTC-T or S2000 type cars. Keep them with a lot less setup options as a road car class.

Can you not relate it more to LFS because of this? Watching Touring cars is more similar to a typical LFS league race than watching F1 or NASCAR!

Also LFS things like the tracks (apart from South City and the ring) and number of cars in race is very similar to touring cars! Unless you can think of something else which is more similar?
