Poll #1: 90% Rule
Since there's serious debate over two of the rules introduced in the rules change thread, Benji and I have decided to open the question up to voting. We ask that only current league drivers vote in the poll. Thanks.

We also ask that you read through the thread linked above, as it includes arguments for both sides of the debate.

Poll #1: 90% Rule

Option 1--Retain existing rules. All DNFs are placed behind all finishers, regardless of laps completed. This is how it is done at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in many European leagues.

Option 2--Use 90% rule as described. Teams who DNF but who have completed 90% of the winner's race distance will be placed among finishers in order of laps completed (but will be placed behind all finishers on their lap). This is intended to reward those teams who drive good races but have bad luck very late in the race.

Option 3--All finishers and all DNFs are scored according to laps completed, the only exception being DQs. This is how it is done in ALMS, Grand Am, and most American endurance/non-endurance series.
No poll yet, but Option 1 for me.

-To finish first, first you must finish.

-I cannot favor a team who was unable to race 4 hours over one who did. Plus points are too hard to come by to punish someone who finished.
Same as the other. Although I agree that this is a rule which should have been there. You cannot alter it during the season, not if you taken into account what happend in the previous 4 races. If you reverse the results to cover the whole league, I say yes (but not to the other poll).

So you'd be in favor of it for next season?

Correct.

The proposed changes have a great repercussion to the league. Due to the severity of these changes take them as improvement points to the next season, and finish this season as it is: after all, all currently participation racers know the rules as they are, and have accepted them as they are.
Noted.

However, it's been stated many times that this is in many ways a sort of shakedown season. Rules are in flux and are subject to change during the course of the season. The goal is to have them hammered out for next season (while still having fun during this one).

Of course, we don't want to disrupt the season that's ongoing, but drivers should be aware that we're going through our growing pains as it were.

See my response in the other poll thread, as well.
I can see the merits of each option, but I tend to think, from a driver's standpoint, that you must finish to get credit for races. I would hate to be scored behind a guy that was running slower than me all race, then crashed out on the last corner, even though I finished 3 laps down due to a couple repairs and maybe a not-my-fault incident.
Option #1 here.
#2 just because that is way to go in real life
voted #3

although the less realistic option it does take into account variances due to the nature of the internet...i dont mind taking a DNF if i flip but if the server is in the UK and there's a storm between me and the host and i get a DC because of the storm (act of God if you will) then i really appreciate still getting at least some credit...this is JFTFOI (just for the fun of it ) after all.
a DC is not a DNF btw

I think he was implying an unrecoverable DC. As in, power goes out and doesn't come back, internet is down, etc.

you are correct sir
Hey all, I stopped by to vote on this and the other poll. Still no access from my new home yet. I should be back around in the next few weeks.
