Fastest settings
Hi, i have been playing lfs for a few weeks now, and am already getting alot better pretty fast. (right now im usually about 2 seconds slower compared to the fastest people in the servers i race in) Now im wondering what settings all the fast people use.

Right now, i use this: (with a g25)

- Shifting: manual
- Brake help: no (i forgot about this option, and just turned it off because i just read it can increase braking distance)
- Auto clutch: yes
- Throttle blip on downshift: yes
- Throttle cut on upshift: yes

What settings should i change to be faster? For example, is using the manual clutch faster when u get used to it?
in brief:

-shift manual
-use breaking help
-use autoclutch
-don't use throttle blip on downshift (helps braking with the engine)
-don't use throttle cut on upshift (while driving a turbocar, helps to keep the turbo revving)

that's what i use, but i don't claim that these are "the" best setting.

regards

It's all down to personal preferance, no settings are going to knock seconds off your lap time, if it feels right to you keep it on/off whatever practice is the only way to become faster, also try spec drivers faster than you, you can learn alot that way.

Imo if you mess around with controll settings and the cars .set settings too much you will find youself constantly struggling to learn new settings. Stick to what feels right and leave it...just practice
Thanks micha! (why the braking help?)

And CSU you are right... but, i think some settings must be something just like auto/manual shifting. I mean, automatic shifting is easy and faster for a beginner.. but manual is faster when u get good at it, i want to know if it's just like that with the rest of the settings.. because i want to be really FAST

DO use throttle blip on downshift, it will make you faster, the rest will make you faster (brake-help is debateable - i use it, but i'm ever so slightly faster/less consistent when using it)
Never used brake help, simply because it's always been off, so I left it that way.

What does it do exactly.
the manual says braking help is a very simple form of ABS, it helps keeping the car under control while braking.. but can increase braking distance

i don't know yet if i should use it or not.. im going to try without it for a while now.
the brake help simply pumps the brake to prevent lockup..i just tested it out and it seemed to work ok but i'm not sure if it makes you faster...any claims?

personally? Makes me slightly slower sometimes, sometimes slightly faster as well, imo it gives me less things to think about and more concentration on driving.

Does not brake as good as a human could, but not off by much
