Ehm I suck... [driving tips please]
Heylllloo dear people.

I had a long brake at LFS before, but started playing again - of course i forgot everything but anyway :-)

I attached a SPR of my PB that I just did - it's the second lap - ignore the first one 'cause the tires weren't warm yet.

Before that I used to drive as clean as possible - no sliding at all , not even a little and so ... but then i tried to let it slide a little bit on few corners and i won 1 second immediately - of course i could've made a better time but can't be arsed driving again and again right at the moment (almost midnight)

The thing I want is, could anyone from here gimme some tips or watch the videos and tell me where I could win some more seconds in the splits or whatever?

Better drivers often get times like 1:24 so by that I lost 2 and half second in one lap :/

A turbocharged engine doesn't perform well if you're constantly on and off the throttle, try to make it that once you put the power down you keep it down until the next corner, also being much smoother on the throttle rather than jabbing it will allow you to balance the car much better.

Right... But I'm using Keyboard and mouse for driving it so there's not much choice than just ON or OFF :-)

I wish i had a steering wheel =]
That's exactly my problem, I've tried "mouse up is power mouse down is brakes" but that is so complex it's nearly impossible. is there any way to program a "50% power" button? (I doubt it but hey, it's worth a try)
I tried in the past using a Macro (rapidly pressing the button on and off) but it wasn't very successful (it technically worked but wasn't of any real benefit when driving).

Alternatively, decrease the button rate in LFS, hold the button to apply half throttle and then try and tap it to hold it there. Trouble is the low button rate can increase your braking distances.

I'll recommend a cheap joystick (atleast it suited my style of driving), you can probably get one for under 20 litas if you look around some (it wouldnt be perfect, might need recalibrate often and have some noise (static) but you dont want to spend unnessesary money while filling the piggybank with enough money to buy s2 and a g25.

I think you still want to use the mouse for steering and joy for throttle/break. I had a very large one (so I could get lots of precision) before I could afford a wheel, never liked gamepads, too little precision for anything than rally).

DISCLAMIER: I havn't tried the mouse+joy combo i LFS but asume it would work.

Bob, that macro might work awsome for the break as some cheapo ABS variant.
:-) Thanks for advice . Never thought about using a joystick like that.

Anyway they cost pretty much the same so I'd rather get a steering wheel with the pedal thing (costs around 20 quid cheap ones -'trust')

I had one of those ages ago - when I was playing need for speed Porsche at the time- pretty good for that price i would say!

Eh... now i remembered time when I used to play Need For Speed 1... or even Grand Prix in DOS ))
I spent a LOOONNNGGGG time driving LFS with nothing more that an analog pad, you can pick one of those up DIRT cheap.
Woooop wooop!!!

Just achieved new Personal Best Time with XRT in blackwood while I was racing online in a small server.

1:26:16 (I think or 17) (on the last lap 10/10)

Yippiii one step closer to 1:25.. damn I wanna be good at it! And I'm not - it sucks, cool guys manages to get 1:24 :[

Nothing really wrong with that drive, I've seen much, MUCH worse from much more experianced drivers.

Your setup needs work, you should be able to do 10 laps in the XRT without pitting no problem.

Ehm maybe it asks for work. But I'm not really the guy that knows how to make it better :-)) I got it from someone else and I liked it. So I'm not really after changing it to another setup :/ or updating current one.

:/ What's wrong with the setup?
Well, in basic terms tou aren't running enough tyre pressure, you could also be running too much camber, but without being able to see the temperatures of the tyre portions, I couldn't tell.

But certainly with some tweaks you could easily run 10 laps without pitting.
Ehm...

That's the setup I use

Check If you want to because I don't really understand much about all the setups - I'm only 15 right now.

Most of the time I race in 3-5 lap servers. But it doesn't make any differences to me. Except Tires gets f***ed up after few laps

Just looking at the setup, doesn't seem to bad on the whole tbh. The locked diff will be heating the tyres up though, you might want to change to clutch pack if tyre overheating is a problem. Also 145kPa is a little low, I run about 170-190kPa myself, not really a big issue though. Camber seems to be the real killer, you've got camber adjust at the maximum (minimum?) of -4.5 degrees. That's likely melting the inside edges very quickly, and likely too much even for optimum cornering traction.

I suspect you could benefit from the suspension being more finely tuned too, but that's not going to be related to any heat issues.

And by the power I bestowed upon myself when I created the setup analyser, here is your set but updated to be nicer on the tyres. I alse took the liberty of making the suspension a little bit better balanced. I've not actually driven either set (nor loaded LFS for that matter) but I'm fairly confident this will cure your issues and handle a bit better too:

If you do want to last 10 laps, You cant drift alot.

If you want to make it 10 laps, Drive like Forumla F1 Drivers

The max drifting I lasted before my tires blew was about 3 Lol :P
Yeah I know that :-)

Well.. mostly .. I'm always trying to get the best time as possible for me. But after roughly 6 laps or so the tires gets pretty bad and you just don't want to brake earlier than usually just because of that!

I don't really play longs races - there aren't any almost I think.. except once couple days ago i played 10 lap race.

Now im gonna try the setup the guy above made for me!

Thank you - i appreciate that

Just tried it. Seems to be maybe a bit faster but harder to control. A wee bit drifty. But maybe i'll get used to it.
Raced all day long today with that setup hardly managed to get 1:28 its too drifty.
This is the setup I use. It's NOT made by me, I found it on the forums here somewhere.

With that setup I drive a 1:27 on Blackwood, but I think I can do much better, I lock my brakes too much. I'm more a XFG driver
