Look to apex?

Yep, I agree totally.

The TrackIR is a very nice, highly precise unit. Great for flight simulators, but I didn't like driving with it at all. To each his own though. Some people can't stand a fixed view, so have at it
The reason the "look to apex" option is beneficial is not to allow you to see the apex more clearly, but to allow you to see up the track farther when turning towards the apex. When you are starting to turn, the apex is on the side of your screen, the farthest point you can see. This is not where you want to be looking, past the apex and through the exit is where you want to be looking. You can't do that as easily with a static forwards view. Look where you want to be, not where you are going. You want to be sitting straight on the outside at the corner exit, that is where you should be looking.

EDIT: Whoops! I was thinking this was the thread on the look to apex topic, which had come up recently.
^ But at the same time you lose all kinds of useful information about what the car is doing. Sure you do look ahead and "where you want to go" in a real car, but in a real car you can feel what the car does via the forces acting on your body. Ingame though this input is missing, the only way to get similar information is to analyse the car heading/movement. Now if you have freelook or look to apex enabled, even these small cues are gone or severely hampered. Personally I think look to apex is horrible, but everyone has to decide that for himself, I guess
Not really, Android. You just eventually adapt. The car and look still performs the same way in feedback. The look only comes when turning the wheel. The feedback from the visual is just offset to the direction you are looking rather than the feedback starting point being straight ahead. It's just an adaption on the user's part really. It does take some getting use to, I was all over the place trying to correct oversteer when I started using it because of the view looking the opposite direction with the countersteering. But now, I can't drive if the view is static. I've dabbled with Racer off and on, but every time, I find it difficult to run because the view is static.
Moved your posts to the right place.

I have found the look to apex helps when countersteering, as I can still see what I'm about to crash into.
Quote from Widdowmaker :The track IR should be agood bit of kit - but not owning one - I dont feel it would give me a realistic feel. I tilt my head when driving normally (not on LFS) so I could imagine the view moving with me and it would be wierd.

I found that buying a 3h2go gave me what I was looking for -Ive got faster, which is a good indicator.

I would still like a Track iR.... but not for LFS.

The abilty to use, or not use an axis is fully adjustable, within the TrackIR software. So if you tilt your head, when you drive, and what to turn it off, you just have to disable the roll feature.

And if you do, it's remarkably accurate. A really good piece of hardware. I only wish my Z800 was half as good at head tracking.

Whew, thought I was going crazy there for a moment. I'm like, "What the.... I swear I posted that in the wrong thread...." hehehehe

What is your opinion on the z800 for Gaming or watching a Movie?
