Button threatons to quit.
"Honda's Jenson Button has threatened to quit F1 if he is not in the position to win more races next season.
Button - whose only career win came at Hungary in 2006 - has only picked up one point after 10 rounds this season.

And the Briton told the Daily Express: "I can't hang around for years on end in a car that isn't capable of being up there to win races. I want to be winning - or I don't want to be in F1." "

and if i can't i'll scream and scream!
Button reminds me of Danica Patrick.

So he threatens to quit if someone in the top teams doesn't give him a car to play with and be overtaken in? What a loss it will be for F1 to see him go. What a loss.
He's jealous the British press isn't hanging off his nuts anymore

It'd be a real shame to see him go, he's such a fine and competitive driver.
They have made more of that quote than there really is. I remember the full interview and that was part of a longer answer in which he says he is commited to Honda and is working well with the team and they are taking positive steps forward, but obviously he wants to be winning and doesn't see much point hanging around if there wasnt a possibility of winning in the future. Basically he is supporting Honda by saying that if he didn't think they could win championships in the future, he wouldn't be there.
And that interview was about ~3 weeks ago.
if he'd jumped ship when he had the chance he would now be in a faster car & no one would have found out that Barrichello is a better driver than him. He shot himself in the foot, twice.

To be fair to him, Honda signed him up for five years telling him that they would make him world champion. They haven't ever looked to be in any danger of delivering their promise.

Yes, because Barrichello is always faster... I don't think that holds much truth to be honest. But last year Jenson was clearly faster by a mile 90% of the time, this year Barrichello has been marginally quicker some of the time (which I put down to the Michelin-Bridgestone conversion).
lol @ nikimere

If you ask me, Button sounds like Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights "If you're not first, your last," if you ask me he just wants to win win win and that's it, obviously he hasn't done that much, but you know what.. just because a company says they will make you a winner, doesn't mean it will last long, nor are there any gaurantees that come along with that (unless you are that gullible).

Jensen just sounds like a kid playing over a friend's house who keeps changing the rules of the game just so the friend can win and he always loses and lands up whining to his momma. May not be that bad, but what do you expect, being the best in the world? Last time I checked that didn't come in a contract you can sign.

I've always thought race car drivers race because of the racing. Oh well, this was pretty unexpected. Any idea where he would go after F1? Or is he just going to quit racing all together?
maybe he should take a leaf out of DC's books.

either you believe him or not, but DC says he is stil in F1 because he loves to race and i admire him for that.

for me JB blew it big time over the williams/bar contract issue. as someone was quoted saying: "after the dust settles, what team would offer jenson a contract and expect him to honour it?" if he is stuck at honda with a crap car he only has himself to blame......deal with it.
Button needs to wake up and smell the coffee imo.

He loves the ladies and the money to care about racing. He has pocketed more cash than he can spend and is known all over the world.

He is slow, or atleast not trying. "The Honda is up to speed" True, but Rubens owns his ass every weekend. He was crap when he first joined F1 and now he is no better. Skilled he may be, but in his head...he is worse.

Honda should send him packing. He is an embarresment to British motor racing. He was all we had and now Lewis is on the scene it shows how utter crap Button is.

Sounds like the press is at it again using their cut and paste feature on their word documents again...

No no no he should stay in F1, I wouldn't want him ending up in ChampCar, Indy or....WORSE......NASCAR!!!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

i dont agree that he hasn't made any improvement in F1 since he joined. BTW wouldn't it be suicidal (for ANY race car driver in any series) to not try or purposely run bad? IMO if he didn't like racing he would have been out of Honda a long time ago
He is not trying to be bad. He just isnt putting the 110% effort that we all know could win him races.
I can't see how Button isn't giving his full effort; what reason does he have not to? To make himself look slow? to make Honda look bad? Doesn't make any sense to me. Button is IMO one of the most consistent and smooth drivers in F1 right now. He was consistently in the points last season when the Honda was actually a little more competitive. I think what he needs is a car that actually runs better than last year's car (I know they brought out last year's chassis again).

Good luck to the man, he's a good driver.
If Honda had made a step forward from last year they would be easily fighting with BMW, possibly closer to the top two. If you remember Button was very consistent and regularly on the podium or close. Honda have openly said how happy they are with the job he is doing, and Autosport ran a special article on the way he has become a team leader and taken on more responsibility in the team.
Button is a good driver, but he seems to have bad luck when it comes to team selection..

Didnt he sign a new contract for honda this year?

Dosen't he ever learn from his mistakes?

This is the exact reason why Renault got rid of him in 2003...
Button is just as good as Hamilton, i'd love to see what happens, if they switched teams.
I would rather have DC back in a maclaren over JB, He does wonders in the red bull. even DC in a BMW or toyota would be great.
Im just stating that the ITV Hammywagon, needs to slow down, and realise. its all just circumstances.

as much as i love supporting the brits, i have to disagree wtih you.
