LFS: Online Racing (QS vs DOC)
I decided to make a little video of a race I recently had with [SR] D O C, which was one of the best races I have ever had on LFS. No music, only 3 cameras and the sound of the cars, its meant as an example for what online racing is like when it all goes right.

Absolutely superb racing!! Watched the whole ten minutes and was not bored for a second

Dont even remember seeing any contact. Nice to see you giving each other room, not many racers seem to comprehend this!
No offence, but it reminded me of LFS oval racing. I just don't get the popularity of combos like that.
How come offensive comments always follow the words 'no offence'. I assure you that combo is much harder than tracks like Kyoto National, Fern Bay or Blackwood with the FOX.
very nice racing although it was quite boring to see it like that with no good camera angles etc, good clean race btw just didnt make it past 4 mins without fast fowarding through bits sorry but got a little bored.......
Nah it isn't. There's what, two corners to brake for, one where you lift a bit, the lap's about a minute long and it's mostly straight lines, how hard can it be?

It was partly the long periods of driving in a straight line, and partly the activity during those periods - letting the guy behind you overtake. It looked a bit contrived because he seemed to be the only one defending.

Movie-wise, I thought the cockpit camera cuts were a bit abrupt and jarring, and the multiplayer message hiss noise was a bit annoying, but I appreciate it was a quick 10-minute job.
If you had done a competitive lap on Aston Club I would take that seriously, but you have not so you have no idea how difficult it can be in race conditions. You have to realise when I say a track is hard, I don't mean lapping on your own offline, I mean its hard when your actually in the thick of it racing. Most other tracks you can pass then pull away easily, at Club you need to plan moves in advance because its hard to gap someone enough to stop them coming straight back at you in the next turn.

Anyway the idea of the video is just to show the race really, without using fancys cuts or decent cameras, because when you race online you don't get those. Most of my recent LFS videos have just been raw footage, I was getting sick of the fancy drift videos which seem to encourage people into the game who have no idea what race craft even means.

I hear ya..
The other day i was chating with a guy who says that 5 people online is enough, everything above that is crash derby, so i wanted to point him in one of the LFS video but i couldn't find none.. then i remembered Becky's STCC coverage videos.. We really lack good raw online RACING videos... effects are nice and all that, but we need more racing videos.. (why i have the feeling i said this exact same thing already.. )

That's why it reminded me of LFS oval racing. To be fair you need to plan moves in advance on pretty much any track if you're racing someone who knows what they're doing or you'll just get blocked.

Fair point.
Jesus, give the guy a break. He made a quick 10 minute video showing an execellent battle and the thread just filled with negativity.

Compared to the majority of sh!t that gets posted here this was a breath of fresh air.

Oval Racing , is harder in some Cases trust me , Try going to a Oval server and see maybe some of the FM guys , When they Work Together , its sick . Really , Try to get into top 5 wich you can from the Back on a Track server , Then talk about hard Craftsman , No need to diss anything else than you like , ok ?
