you guys know that when a Any car is driven right it will last forever ( like my friends 87 feista with 270 thousand miles on the clock ( dont ask me how he managed it , cars pure magic
but if it where me id invest my hard earned money in a Classic bmw or a small run around such as a pug 106/saxo maybe a swift/charade but sadly you cant drive toyota starlets over here , too many bad examples
Toyota Corolla GT, the old 1.6lt Twin Cam, model E86 with a 4A-GE engine, awesome car, sure drifters use em, but they make (IMO) great curcuit cars too, the engine is really tunable, and they handle well.
The difference is, though any car driven right will last forever, there are select cars that can last forever without needing to be babied and driven right .
Top of the list of vehicles with indestructible engines: Toyota 4x4's with the 20R, 22R, or 22RE engine and VW Scirocco (don't know the engine of this one). The Toyota 20R motor was originally designed for a forktruck, thus it was built for abuse.
Little trivia: Toyota was originally going to be Toyoda. But there was already a company by that name that manufactured sewing machines and they didn't want to be associated with a sewing machine manufacturer, so they changed it to Toyota. If you look at some of the reservoir caps for stuff like the brake reservoir or power steering reservoirs, you will see the name Toyoda on it rather than Toyota, at least on the 4x4 pickups and 4Runners of the 80's/90's.
The BMW Drivers Tale...
"The other day I was cruising along as usual coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars.
First off, I couldn't believe that the volume of traffic DIDN'T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the slip road! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two cars in order to get onto my motorway!
(The driver of the car behind me did realise his mistake though and honked an apology to me with a long blast of his horn.)
Unbelievably, I had to do the same again before I could get to the BMW lane. (Why do underlings use this lane? Surely everyone knows it is for BMW drivers only?)
Anyway, once I was in the BMW lane and posing along at 110mph enjoying the adulation that the inferior car drivers were giving me, I noticed an inferior car ahead of me which was not only in the BMW lane of my motorway, but was driving so slowly - at a ridiculous 70 mph!
Naturally, I got to within a foot or so of his rear bumper and flashed my headlights to remind him he shouldn't be in the BMW lane of my motorway and to get out of my way.
Of course, once he realised it was a BMW behind him, he did just that, but I could hardly believe it when he pulled straight back out behind me! He also tried to keep up with me and when he realised I would out-run him, he put on some blue lights in his front grill and urged me to get onto the hard shoulder so that he could congratulate me on my excellent car.
Needless to say, I was eager to oblige and when we had stopped, the man gave me a piece of paper confirming what I already knew - that my car goes fast!
Apparently he wants everyone to know what a superior car I have, so I had to take my driver's licence to a Police Station to be sent away to have some points put on! (They're not free points either - they're £20 each and I was only allowed 3.) But the man at the Police Station said that because I drive a BMW, it won't be much longer before I earn the full 12 points, and then I won't even NEED a driving licence, so they will take it off me!
See, now THAT's the sort of respect you get when you buy and drive a BMW!"
toyota was formed by a man with his second name toyoda , also they merged with diahatsu many years ago , right ?? cause ive worked on a couple of toyota diesils and they all got diahatsu blocks ( might be that diahatsu make the best motors in the world but im not sure )
Yes, I was slightly wrong, and did look it up on wiki after posting that. I was going off of what I had in my head at the time. Toyoda was a sewing machine company and the son branched off into automotive manufacturing. Like was said, it was changed to Toyota because of the lucky number in Japan that the japanese lettering of Toyota has in the number of strokes used or something.
Toyoda the sewing machine company is still manufacturing sewing machines.
Ricing a car? There is a difference between ricing and actually modding your car out properly. Ricing is adding the ridiculous wings, stupid bodykits, adding engine badges to cars that don't have that particular engine, etc. Anything to make your car appear to be "fast", but really isn't. Just because you have a Honda Civic modded, doesn't mean it is riced. There is nothing wrong with improving the visual appearance of your car. But adding modifications to actually increase the performance of the engine, drivetrain, and handling is good, not ricing.
Ricing has been so generically used nowadays, that replacing the stock ugly wheels would be considered ricing, even though it isn't. Now, replacing the wheels and tires for 22 inch "rimz" and rubberband tires is ricing as that will hurt performance, not increase it.
yep...the idea was to ask you guy's here at this 'racing forum' for advice on what car to buy that suits add-on engine parts, drivetrain/gearbox swapping and just what car manufacturers in general offer the best swapping of parts from different models...not bloody jap ricing with mad wings and shit.
I admit I should'nt have placed the word 'Rice' in the thread title, but me being here for some time I thought you all would catch on about my sarcastic humour...of course I'm not into RICING...you all know that. But sadly two of our elder forum members decided that the word 'rice' was to be used as an excuse to jump on my back and accuse me of pointless, low down apamming. There's been enough mud slinging here already and I'm still in the dark to what prevoked that silly immature outburst.
thanks for the suggestions guy's, but I still have'nt decided yet...
@niko, no thanks my dad's was trying to off load a Fiat 500 to me....im not a historically nostalgic driver, I just want something that I can tune from home from PC...
Whoa there, you just did a 180 on what you said in your first post. Asking for tuning is perfectly fine, but ricing is the complete opposite of that. It's more like anti-tuning by modifying your car in a way that actually makes it slower and ironically in most cases look worse than before. Now, if your so called 'sarcastic humour' consists of posting like an idiot, then it might be worth considering to drop this kind of humour as it's neither funny nor productive, but just ending in arguments and misunderstandings like this. Seriously, just objectively look at your first post again - to me that looks like the very definition of low down spam, and to be honest, I still can't find any sarcasm in it.
However, now that you made it clear to me that you actually post like this on purpose I can better understand why more than half you posts look like you were half drunk/high when writing them. Funnily enough I found your avatar to be a very good match for this most of the time
Just had to let this out so Mr. CSU is not in the dark anymore about "what provoked this [...] outburst".
Everyone else ignore this post and Please continue with the thread
okey, my fault sowey ...i'll drop the sarcastic humour whenever I'm around Germans and Austrians whom retain very little of it....really though m8 you need to lighten up a lil bit(no offence)...
...Dear Lord, please give them some humour...pleeeease...
