I'd like to ask, what files should be replaced to repair car XFG. Now, when I select this car, LFS immediatelly crashes to desktop with critical error. I would avoid reinstallation of LFS, while I've many addons, skins, and such stuff installed in current instance of game.
save the dds, skins, and settings folders. mpr and spr relay folders are good to save too. to put them back into the new LFS installation, copy the contence of the old folder into the new one
Download a new copy and try replacing the "vob" folder, and then try replacing "DDS" if that doesn't fix it, however you may wish to back up your DDS folder if you have some custom textures you'd like to keep.
As I told in my first post, what You all suggest is not so easy to do for me, as current volume of my LFS game direcory is over 900 megabytes high. You can bet it, that easier would be to transfer main XFG car's files instead of all files from old to new instance. Besides, I am affraid that reason is somewhere in config files - skin or setup choosen for that car and then deleted from disk, or something like this. I need knowledge, instead of "common wisdom" with this issue...
EDIT:
Heh... I think I found it. It's all about CFG.TXT file. I've copied everything differentially (only non existing files) to clean instance of LFS, and things was ok. XFG was choosen, I was able to drive it. Then decided to copy CFG.TXT as well, and effect was CTD...
Now I've only to compare brand new file with messy one, and try to find what can be the reason.
UPDATE:
Things goes curious... I have changed in CFG.TXT entry that keep recently selected car to "Selected Car XF GTI" and deleted name from entry "Setup name", and game works well until I decide to get in garage. Then effect is the same as in the case that having choosen other car, I'll get into cars selection screen (still no CTD) and then click on picture of XF GTI, what cause game to crash... I wonder how deep is this rabbit hole...
Finally decided to leave brand new CFG.TXT file and redo configuration again. And it works.
