Quote from tristancliffe :FYI: "Checking it's stable" isn't just seeing if it loads windows and sits at idle for 5 minutes, but that it can do some serious work (e.g. rendering, CPU intensive gaming, load tests, PCMark etc etc).

Nice input, sometimes I get the feeling some people think of "Stable" as being able to sit on the desktop without the computer going wrong.
thanks mytriajdjjdskads

i will try go to 1.8 first...if i can just find my dam Pll thing..i am trying to open up my laptop,...i tried some of the recommended AMD ones on Clockgen site...but they didnt work when i tried to put them to 1.7, and restarted....so im looking somewhere for a screwdriver
dude harjun man i had a sempron it overclocked so well, i got it to like 2.5ghz on stock cooling in my laptop and im able to play all the latest games on high now its awesome. I would recommend increasing the multiplyer 50mhz each time because the speeds go up very little. You will know your system is stable if you can play solitare for 2 minutes as this is a very cpu intensive program. Good luck
hey thanks so much W Gooden, did you use clockgen?

Harjun.

You WILL break your laptop if you try to overclock the crap out of it like you are suggesting. There is no scope to increase cooling/fan speeds a great deal and it will just result in frying your hardware.

Overclocking a desktop PC is not without its risks, but overclocking a laptop, especially with your limited knowledge is downright suicide.

Please, please get this into your head before you break your laptop.

its alright...i kjnow people who have overclocked theirs using clockgen to 2.16...and they have exact same laptop

But those people aren't twats like you. And I see a PLL chip in the 4th picture, the chip that says "ICS". Type that into the program, and overclock away! 3.2GHz is a stable speed for your laptop. Or, shoot for 3.5GHz, or even 4GHz!

Quote from harjun :I HAVE asked how to do it on a lot of forums...i understand....................

it speaks for itself really.

exactly which picture...i still dont see it
harjun, why are you using the thank button to spam? Go ahead and look at the chip that says 'ICS', and overclock your damn laptop.

http://www.lfsforum.net/attach ... id=36500&d=1186427136 < Bottom center, the chip manufacturer is on there [ICS], and I am fairly certain that that is your PLL.

is that the black one?
TBH I think he'll get similar results to his overclock attempt by simply hitting the laptop with a blunt object for several minutes.
Quote from harjun :is that the black one?

If by 'the black one', you mean the only chip in the picture that says ICS on it, then yes.

Thanks guys no need to make fun of me...im not very good with computers, but i am 99% sure its gonna work, so, ill say it now, if im unactive for a few months, ive broken me fricking laptop

Just remember, if you break your laptop, don't come crying to me.

or you can use your desktop pc...... what makes you 99% sure? is it the ammount of failled attempts at overclocking or maybe the guides that you have not read? would you attempt to fix plumbing on your own or would you call a plumber? and nobody is making fun of you. your doing that all by yourself.
whoa...i done it to 1.75.. lol, i put it at 4Ghz...and the screen whent white, i shat myself nearly...i just took the battery out, is there a way to save it?, so it always stays 1.75Ghz?

Also...what is the programme called where i can see if it is stable or not?

Temperatures all been good so far, staying at 32
Quote from harjun :Also...what is the programme called where i can see if it is stable or not?

Prime95, if there aren't any BSODs or lockups after 12hrs then it is pretty stable.
