I think karts would be a great addition to LFS, and tracks would'nt really be a problem, just use the auto test park.
Seem to remember a year or two ago someone used LFS Tweak to "tweak" the MRT, ran some races on a server as well i think ? (whatever happened to that ?)
indeed ... any kart simulated with the current engine would be utterly unrealistic at best
not to mention the various complications of simulating a vehicle that weights about as much as the driver
From what I understand, the MRT has some sort of motorcycle engine in it. Instead if it just being an inline engine, maybe make another car to race against it have a V? I know the story of the MRT and what it's based on. But so what? It's a race car to us. and it's fun on ashton cadet.
I'm sorry, but I can't really take Karts seriously as racing cars - well as far as LFS goes. I mean they are just too small for the tracks that already out there and probably for the ones to come. Like if you were to model a real go-kart for LFS and use it on Kyoto Long, would it be able to make a complete lap without running out of gas?
Yes, I agree . Does depend on the type of kart tho. I heard that the Formula Super A karts can reach up to speeds of 300+ KMH (or 180+ MPH for you English people ) so I'd say it would still be challenging. Also, apart from the fact that they reach those speeds, the fun part with karts is the braking zone .
Aside from the actual fun of having karts, I've read an article here which says that a lot of karters use simulators so if karts were added to the game (ofcourse, as Becky said here (I think it was Becky anyway ) the whole chassis flexing would have to be implemented to truly simulate karts but if it were done, it would bring in quite an amount of $ for the devs
Aparrently because karts have a fixed chassis, doesn't bend, Its like....impossible to do it
I'm not sure, i would just love a kart though, rotax, or even super karts , but, i don't like the way, in an MRT, Slide=spin, in a kart you kinda Gotta slide it around the tighter corners
I think your getting a little confused. Formula Super A was a class that used to be around a few years ago. It's a Formula A with a bigger (slide) carb basically. 100cc direct-drive.
What your thinking of is a Superkart... 250cc 6 speed.
One of the key aspects of any karts handling is how much it will bend an flex. They all bend and flex, any car/kart/bike/plane chassis will bend and flex to some degree.
That's not right... as the saying goes.. "any time spent going sideways is time spent not going forward".
Driving a kart quickly is about being smooth, neat and tidy. Going sideways scrubs off too much speed.
A quick kart engine question for the karters among us:
Given a typical rental kart, with a 270cc engine (that's all I know), what's the likely power/torque outputs? And at what sort of rpm should these figures be occuring? Cheers. Kart is claimed to reach at least 80km/h (50mph).
I can't wait for karts in LFS. The only problem is, that Fern Bay seems to be the only track fit to have a kart race on. Tracks like Aston and Kyoto are just too wide.
