Icarus Allsorts - The Poem about WW3 in a Funny Manner
Well this is one of my favourite poems in Enfglish. I was taught this poem in our Literature course. The teacher used this poem to show the importance of protecting the world from total destruction at all cost but in a funny way.

See what you think about this poem. It's written by Roger McGough (hope I spelt his name right). Give your comments or even, better, your own version of poem which talks on the topic of World War 3 or Nuclear War.

What a dampener... Nobody seems to be intersted.:cry:
Very nice poem, but I don't think theres much of a poetry fanbase here.
Hmm I guess so. I always seemed to miss the favorite point of topics while posting threads LoL... Anyone wanna create his/her own version of poem which talks about WW3? Or maybe just read the poem and tell us what you think about it...
Sorry, but didn't go too much on that poem. It seemed aimed at a much younger target audience than what I'm used to
If you like satirical poetry, try reading Pam Ayres.
My favourite poem is by a WW1 soldier, that (for me) REALLY sums up war and conflict:
Quote :
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,
A body of England's, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.
Rupert Brooke (1914)

Hmm this poem you provided really sums up the WW1... How about WW3?

It is too long, people have no such patience no more
You mean people are inpatient to wait for WW3? Who would want a Global Thermonuclear WAr to break-out LoL!

More I meant that people are too impatient to read long text that is written poem like, it would require patience and usage of brain at some spots, which seem to be nowdays more exception
Hmm ok... The poem is humorous and funny btw so it won't take up alot of brain power to read it. It's just like wind where you get blown at and then it's over.

For somebody that is against a global nuclear war, may I say that you have chosen a weird username?
Nope because I ran out of name to choose because my other forum names are used up yer see? I'm also anti-Nuclear and I have drawn myself a poster which is rubbish and isn't very motivating... It's attached to this post. Hope you guys see it and tell me what you think about it...

EDIT: Oh i see another SIngaporean called Nuclear Boy banned while I was searching for someone... It's just a coincidence name on my poster because it's my frend who wrote that for nothing... Btw he's Nuclear Boy so he wrote that
EDIT2: Attachment removed.
EDIT3: New version without the silly NUCLEAR BOY PRODUCTIONS writing on it...
The poem kinda reminds me of Slayer
Or Mega Deth's Peace Sells, but Who's Buyin?
Don't know why It just sounds like something Dave Mustane would do.
Who's Slayer? Well I'll check the poem you said later... And aagin who's Dave Mustane?

EDIT::woohoo: My 200th post or my 2-centuries in posting here LoL

Slayer is a heavy metal band, Dave Mustaine is the singer (and founder) of Megadeth, another heavy metal band. "Peace Sells But Who's Buyin'" is the title of an album by Megadeth, not a poem.

I liked the poem, btw.
Hmm okay thanks for your information And another lover of the poem...
