Pimping
I thought it was about time to pimp some other things we're all involved in. LFS, and siming is cool, but we all do other things (I'm sure).

So, here I go;
  • LUGRadio - Linux User Group Radio - its a geek podCast by 4 guys from Wolves, and its ****ing hilarious. If you like opensource, dont mind some rude language, and are even remotely technical, you'll find this brilliant. Checkout #lugradio on irc.freenode.net. And importantly, download from my mirror
  • IRC - Get your ass in the official channel and get insulted by the LFS team themselves! See the wonders of the world, see DaHoe and MrAss (amongst many others), see #liveforspeed on irc.gamesurge.net.
  • Planetarion - This was the first and ultimate web browser based tick game. Around 3 years ago it went P2P and player numbers dropped from around 200k to 10k. It's clearly a lot of fun otherwise so many people wouldnt have played, so check it out. It has free, but restricted, accounts. Its a lot of fun, its a great community. Checkout #planetarion on irc.netgamers.org.
  • Apache - the ultimate brilliant and modularised HTTP server. You can write modules, filters, and its almost the most versatile program on earth as it can talk anything from HTTP to IMAP, and runs on most platforms (win32, linux, bsd, other unix's). Premier of opensource technology (excluding the kernel). No wonder Victor runs it on the LFS servers, albeit an older version
So, let us know what else you're involved in/use/listen to and pimp it to us!
Well... I can't link to what else I like spending a lot of time on, since I think it would be illegal in a lot of countries, nor would it be appreciated by the people running this website if I got you lot hooked on stuff that costs money...

I can tell you though...

Texas Hold'em Poker is my favorite passtime activity at the moment.
It seems like a game of luck, but actually when you dive into it you'll find out it takes a lot of skill to play it to the point it can make you money.

Oh, my brother is poker ppl too, he started it few months ago, now every second word is something like river or AQs and so on, last time that I still understood some how his talk I hear that he has earned some over 340 euros so far, he has not yet put any money in as he got some voucher or something, free money to play with...

I tested it too, but damn I got bored after 2nd hour on freeroll tournament, so I quit after rasing money/chips what ever those are from 1500$ to 24000$

I don't understand quite 100% what this thread is about so I guess that it is some hobbys or something.

Well I have not many hobbies, car stuff is number one, tomorrow installing new exhaust manifold and yet another lambda sensor, because old one decided to go crazy (2 died this summer).

Narrow band goes near 2 Volts, pic from log

Most of my time currently goes at car forums, I'm trying to answer questions and helping ppl fix their car problems etc.

Then of course sim racing as we have ice here at winter time so can't go to track. rFactor is one I have been busy latelty and also LFS and Raceabout.

hmm, Tagforce, but this one free. Obviously, if it is illegal to play in your country ( Which I think it is, only IF you play for REAL money ) then don't play it. And also, if you get hooked, then don't blame me
httpcolonforwardslashforwardslashwwwdotholdempokerdotcom.

I ( we, T7R ) play this also. We used to have our own table where we would all join in ( playing money only, not real ) and have a laugh. This became more difficult since they now have 2 servers, and you usally end up on different ones, and you cannot see server 1 from server 2 etc etc

But if anybody signs up, give me shout. I won't mind taking all your Virtual money

Hmmm... It seems there are some hold'em players where you least expect them. Thought I would be the only one on here, apart from the Americans.

I'm hooked to the game... Not the playing for money part.

As for it being illegal... I think 5 card draw is illegal here, because it's classified as a chance game. I think Hold'em is classified as a skill game. But I don't really care

That Lambda is doing the illepall thing, yes...
But ehmmm... If the next one going in would be #4, I'd be looking at why it fries them. Lambda's aren't cheap if you go through them like six-packs on the weekends. U not using NOS are you?

I think that reason was because of leak in exhaust so I got false information from mixture and rich micture was causing lambda's death.

Of course could be that ignition is bit late, but I can't adjust it yet, need to build new ignition so I could control it.

Or then it is just that I have hitted rev limiter too often, but is not my fault, it just come too early :P
There are flames coming out when limiter is hit, or so I was told by friend that raced behind me...

So basicly I do have now first easier test going on with new exhaust manifold that has place for lambda in it and if that does not help, then I really need to start building that ignition thing.

Why can't you adjust the ignition timing? There is a manual way of doing it.

You should not hit the rev limiter... Reprogram that thing And flames coming out of the exhaust is bad for 2 reasons... 1) it'll burn your cat if you have one (prolly not), and 2) it's incomplete combustion, and could cause the lambda to literally fry.
When I'm not playing games when I should be working, I'm usually practising, cleaning, setting-up or looking at my Warwick bass

Even if you don't play bass, get yourself a Warwick anyway just for decoration, they're really pretty
Very cool thisnameistaken

You have a keen eye, young man

Mine's one of the last hand-made ones, before they switched to factory processes in 1992. Before this one I had a 6-string with a white maple body (uber-rare, the only one I've ever seen) that was stamped with serial #000014, but I had to choose between that bass or paying the tax man, so it had to go. My latest one is actually a lot nicer than the old one, but I miss bragging about the two-digit serial number...
As you people can probably tell, I'm a shameless dog fanatic. Rumor's not a showdog, but I'm planning on getting one, and getting into showing for real. Unfortunately, dogs and cars are both very expensive hobbies, so I probably won't ever be able to retire
Meanwhile, I play on www.showdog.com It's like real dog showing, but much much cheaper

No, I don't like cats

This car is equipped with renix ignition, there is no way to adjust it, distributor is not possible to turn at all, cranksaft position sensor is possible to mod to give mayb 4 degrees of play but not really useful.

I will someday get enough money to spare for ignition parts so that Megasquirt would control that too. Cost is around 80-100euros if I do distributor ignition, bit more if I go for wasted spark setup.
When I get that sorted then I can get to 7000rpm where this camsaft makes power, now revs stop to 6200rpm, right where engine starts to feel good.
After 7000 I would need new valve springs and balancing so that will be long wait until I get past that one, bottlenecks, always those bottlenecks

Now I have older lambda installed, but this time it is genuine Bosch, hopefully this one will last :P
if i aint racing on LFS, im racing on my bikes....the pedal kind!

see my signature link below for my badass mountain bike.

ill have to add my road bike to that.........its got uber skinny slick tyres for 50mph flesh/lycra tearing downhill sprints!

figures quoted may not be entirely acuarate! 48mph is my tops so far, then my vision was so blurred from my eyes watering, i thought i better slow down to see the next turn!
48mph? Whoa. On my old claud butler road bike I managed to get the speedo to read 44mph while I going was down a 1/2 mile long hill pedling like mad, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

And things I do other than racing LFS..I'm pretty heavily into RC, more specifically 1:10 TC & electric trucks. This is where a large chunk of my money goes. I bike a *lot*, but I still struggle with the basic mechanical side of things at times
Yup, biking here too. I dream of getting a Morati frame.

Other than that I found DIY electronic projects very interesting. I'm about to make a 7*50W reference grade amp and seven widerange speakers in bass reflex enclosure with sandfilled walls.

Hey, what about me
/me feels forgotten
You're not forgotten rob, but MrAss and DaHoe just seem to make more of an "impression"

Plus you're always on DSRC's servers showin' off to Tiny
You womaniser you.
It's not my fault I happen to be particularly gifted at crashing
Got to be good at something I suppose

Lovely instrument

This is my 5-string bass I put together from a Warmoth kit a couple of years ago. Beautiful deep fruity tone, and a real pleasur to put together - the Warmoth guys turn out some great quality components. As you get to choose absolutely every single piece you end up with a unique high quality instrument.

That's a fancy bass, Al! The walnut face is beautiful. I'm currently considering buying a fretless (I played fretless for years but I don't have one at the moment) but I planned on buying an older, used instrument and so far - after about two years looking - I haven't found one I want yet. I may well end up building one so it's nice to hear that Warmoth bits are worth using.

I'll give it 'til next summer, but I'd really rather buy an old Fender, Yamaha "BB", G&L L2000/2500 or similar and make a project of it. My fretlesses, traditionally, have been Frankenbasses
Hmm, my hobbies have dwindled down quite a bit in the last few years with gaining a few children. I use to be into 4wheeling, use to be into car audio (was this close |-| to joining competition), use to be into riding my street motorcycle, and now my hobbies are pushing the little ones out on the swingset and very very slow bike riding with the 5 yr old out on the "rails to trails" here in Western PA, US. Now that it's winter, it's LFS and recently got into flight simulator. I'm touring Australia at the moment at www.wspilots.com. I started playing a bit with Racer as you may have seen in the off-topic thread I started. What I've alway wanted to do is model a few local roads around here that we use to race on in college. Racer is free, so I figured I'd try to do it in there.
