I want to get into some sort of league or race but its bot really clear on most threads what skill level is required is there some beginner/intermediate leagues i could get in?

The original LFS-league is your best choice IMO. There are drivers of every skill level and you are put into pools with other drivers of the same speed as you.

The GFC caters for a wide range of skills. Speed is not important in the GFC - awareness and clean racing is.
