The online racing simulator
i never said my opinion would have any weight
but at least now we know who to enter in our ban lists!
Quote from [RCG]Boosted :in case of cheating its completely fine imo.

I totally agree. Cheats should be named and shamed every time.

This dick was on the GFC server yesterday doing 51 second laps in a FOX at BL1.

What I'll never understand is the mentality of these people. Where is the satisfaction? It's not like people wont notice your cheating is it
Ohh well, i guess his licence will be removed. That's the great thing about LFS in comparison to most online games, the ability to remove the cheats completely. At £24 a time you've got to be incredibly rich or stupid to carry on cheating.

Orangina:
0:52.23 with FOX @ AS2

Whilst the WR is actually 1:00.20

Or charge for the cheat so that your 'userbase' funds the testing.
Quote from Bean0 :Or charge for the cheat so that your 'userbase' funds the testing.

Good point. I guess the real idiots are people who take him up on the offer.
Paying for something that will get them banned, you cant be the sharpest tool in the box to go for that one
Agreed, he's had at least one license removed before, hopefully another now too.
So these people could be easily found by just searching the whole LFSW database for laps done too fast?
Quote from kurent :So these people could be easily found by just searching the whole LFSW database for laps done too fast?

I would have thought so, it won't catch any demo racers though.
There could of course be people using the hack with a bit more thought, and only improving their times by a little bit.

The more blatant the cheating, the easier it is spotted.
do you really think these accounts used for cheating were paid with there own money. more likely were they bought with a stolen credit card.
I think this whole cheating thing outburst, if I may, was brought on us beacause LFS was brought to the attention of the cracker world by the post in the milworm site.
Now some of the people that browse the site may have more secure code as a reason for doing this kinda work, but knowledge can be used in a wrong way as in this case has been done and in my opinion and I must stress on this it is only my lowly opinion that there is no such thing as 'ethics' with these people. the notorious hacker ethics is a load of bull with the lowly crackers reasoning. again just my 2c

I dont think's so m8 i think you will find the code is not as secure as every one think's i know that the developer's have just been sent another bug from some one i know.Im not mention any name's and,That is i think remote so im not surprised this is happening.I've spoke to a few people who were surprised by the reaction's from the dev's .I have to admit when that guy come on the server last night i was shocked as it was the full game and not the demo.Dev's get these bug's sorted out,We payed alot of money for a game that is not secure.
surely a program being developed would benefit from a good debugging team, but I dont think a society like the one in question is a good choice for one. And another thing is that lfs is developed by a three man team, not a multinational corporation, so they(the dev team) should be the judge of when to enter the debugging state. the bugs found should be mailed to the devs, not made public. the thing here is that the game is not yet published as a complete product. again just my opinion. I just felt posting the stolen credit fact, not get into a debate wheter or not to publish security holes. if a stolen card was used to buy these cheats its only a minor annoyance to the cheater. He might do it in a less noticable fassion next time.

To be fair "not secure" is relative - NO game on the market is 40000% bug free, but LFS is better than most - any hack which works in Demo will probably work in S2, but the racers realise if they try it then *bang* and they're £24 is gone.

Doubt this is muhaa or his friend, as they're much more "exploit" bugs designed to execute remote code (which you still have to get there) rather than "t3h n0s m0d!11!!" which is more the sort of thing Phlos might do.
Quote from muhaa :...Dev's get these bug's sorted out.

True. This silly stuff is nothing new to LFS. We've had our fair share of hackers and crackers and they have been dealt efficiently. (Shot in the head, license removed, exploit fixed.)

Quote from muhaa :We payed alot of money for a game that is not secure.

On the contrary, we paid very little (compared to other current and valid sim games on the market) and we have a very secure game and license system.

Now demo users I don't give a flying fkuc about, to be honest and brute. Scawen could just put a forced 10 second note in the demo version before server browser that would read:

'Please support LFS and buy a license: more cars, more tracks, more fun, cool community, no bullcrap and idiots will be dealt accordingly (shot in the head, etc.)'
Quote from kurent :So these people could be easily found by just searching the whole LFSW database for laps done too fast?

nope...
if u look at my PB XFG@BL which is 1:29.01, has absolutely nothing to do with cheating.
slickmod and voila.

Quote from Zomah :..the post in the milworm site...

ouch, didn't see that so far, good to know that you have to be extra careful now with mpr/spr/ply files from unknown persons. i hope we see a fix soon for that problem. i don't mind about the cheating they get caught quite fast anyway but that exploit stuff is a totally different story, executing code with mpr's sounds not so good to me
Agreed troy.
Im sure it don't have to be a fancy fix just some patch to fix the code execution bug's would be a start. And then atleast there out of the way.

That is the whole point in making it public m8.

HMM... i think maybe u should contakt the CIA, FBI, NCIS, USDA, CTU, ect... because, "it's then end of the world as we know it"

Did you think of that all by yourself? I'm suitably impressed!
whats the guys username?
Quote from scoobyrbac :whats the guys username?

He has already been discussed and has probably been properly disposed of.
ah alright thanks
dont make the password -

password
cheese
cola.

And talking of PB's faster that WR JakG has like 1.18 in the xfg at BL1rev.

So yea |-|3 15 73H 819 |-|4Ckz()rZ!
All of these exploits just reminds me of how security through obscurity rarely seems to be the best way of doing things.
