The online racing simulator
Problem connecting to the master server throughout socks5 server
"My" computer is firewalled (can't do anything about it, it's part of academic network in my country). Only HTTP protocol is "enabled" (throughout port 8080). That's the only "direct" way to go "out to the Internet". LFS won't work.

But... we have socks5 server publicly available. It has "exit to the Internet". I use utility program called SocksCap32. It makes possible to drive online in LFS (some kind of "tunneling", all communications go through socks5 server). I've probably passed over thousands and thousands of kilometers in DEMO in this manner in last 3 months.

The problem is that I need, almost every time, trying more than 10-15 minutes to connect to any LFS server within the sim (usualy can't get even list of servers, must type server name by myself). First I keep geting "Could not connect to master server" error messages. Than, I'm repeating ESC - GO for many many times (once got "to many clicks" error message). After many tries I start geting "Could not create UDP connection" error massages. These 2 error messages go around one after another, one more and the other less often. After awhile, I menage to connect to server!? But... for two days now, I'm only geting annoying error message "Could not connect to master server" and I can't race at all.

I need to know are these problems at the master LFS server side or at the "our" socks5 server side (in our academic network), is there any hope? Shoud I try installing LFS to another PC? I don't know what else could I do.

I bought S2 licence week ago and already "spent" 2 keys for unlocking sim in the same computer. I don't like an idea of unlocking it in another computer and spending my last key (however there are lots of computers accessible to me in "my" computer center)!? If more details needed I can provide it in PM.

Thank You
Mare

P.S. This probably isn't a bug but I didn't know where to post it, sorry.
No comments by now. :weeping: I want to race, too.
I hope someone read this. Thank You.
I think you can force LFS to use a certain port in the cfg.txt file. Try finding a line for Game Port or Port. I think the default is 63392, so try changing lines with that to 80, or 8080.

Hope it helps.

And don't forget to backup your working cfg.txt, just in case you forget what it used to be.

Thanks, Tristan, I tried this and it didn't help.

Now I'm sure that problem is in my network, definitely. It seems I have to use some third party software and/or server on my network to solve this. No more races until something comes up.

Edit: I think that "our" socks5 server doesn't have exit to Internet anymore.
