Right, ahem, aside from looking awfully conspicuous after the Enemy Territory thread I just saw, here we go

BBMan and I were discussing the possibility of organizing a CS:S event (or hey, maybe an old CS event, whatever...) for the forum regulars, or really anyone on the LFS forum.

We were talking about the possibility of using a server provided for a couple hours by a member already involved in the CS "community", or maybe even an LFS team server would allow use for a small chunk of time.

Just throwing ideas out, and the main purpose of this thread is of course simply to see who would be interested at all. I'm not a CS regular at all, in fact I've only played online a few times but I grin at the thought of playing with familiar(ish) folks like Tristan, Ben, Shotglass, Android, Maggot, and many others of course.

So, simple yes or no to "would you be interested".

Timezone issues and so forth would be looked at if there is some interest in this, and it could be a regular event who knows.

I'm not a forum regular, i'm not well known, i hav'nt played CS:S for years, i have'nt a clue where my HL2 disk is, and i'm a past master at shooting team mates in the back of the head

(have to admit though, there are better MP FPS games out there, Ghost Recon 1, America's Army) <- is that still a free download ? if so it might be a better option. (like Shotglass i'm not too keen on Steam)

Depends if I've got work being forcibly inserted into my rectum or not at the time, but in principle yeah I'll come and get embarrassed by you lot in CS as well as LFS.

I'd be happy to give it a go again.. Although in my experience CS:S is the most frustrating game I have ever, and will ever, play. At its worst I'd rather have had a car battery wired to my crotch during a bungee jump than play it...

FTR I've only got Steam installed because I got RACE free with my graphics card. I'd rather not use it either, but I quite like the Caterham expansion.

i think i just found a download for a working beta 5.2 ... will report after ive installed hl (trust me its much better than any other cs version)

I don't think I can play if I have to install HL from the CD - my combo drive has decided to stop reading CDs.

I'd be happy to play 1.6 instead of Source though. It's a better game IMO.

I'd rather play 1.6 too, my computer doesn't handle Source games too good.

Apart from the updating (which only makes sure everybody uses the same version), I've never had any ads... You may want to have a look at the options?

The updating is usually to facilitate the sale of new titles. When I'm starting Steam to play a game I've already bought, I don't want to be delayed while it readies itself to sell something that I'm not even remotely interested in.
