My core.ini lines are the same as your's excpet for the strength, I upped it in GEM just to check it wasn't too weak to feel.
Alright, you rotten lot...
I want to complain about this thread!
Since reading it and learning about all these cool updates, new graphics, car add-ons, new tracks etc...I dusted off my copy of GPL and re-installed. Now I got the Mrs giving me GBH of the earhole because I'm spending too much time racing and swearing and making things fall off the shelves (vibration from G25 )..

Takes me back to the good old days...chucking the Lotus around Brands Hatch is pure heaven.. one of these days I'm going to find the best braking point and line through Paddock and up into Druids..
Jeez, I LOVE this game!!!!
I've managed to get the FF to work by simply unplugging all my controllers except the DFP.

Quote from Bladerunner :...

Yeah, I spent the afternoon doing a fair bit of crashing the Eagle
I'd also like to compliment Orgamiboy on an excellent choice. There's nothing like getting to know your roots. I've had GPL since it was released, and it still amazes me.
GPL for the ultimate win  That game's the whole reason I bought a wheel (and a decent PC) in the first place ...

I feel like firing up Brands Hatch myself now - except the V8s are on tv, so Bathurst in the Brabham it is!

Just wait until the 1966 Mod, oh boy. The GPL modders have cracked the 7-team (7 car) limit that's bee bugging them since modding began, so now they'll be able to model every single car that was raced during the '66 season, with every different engine from the ones that still ran the 1500s, through 2 and 2.5L up to the 3L beasts, with all the driver changes too ... basically that means when you do an offline GP season, the team members will switch at the exact times they did during 1966, as will the different tyre/engine configs. May not mean much to non-GPL'ers, but to us old lags it's a massive deal It also means they'll be able to make the same adjustments to the existing season mods ...

Plus they've cracked the track length limit, so look forward to a full length Isle Of Man and ... the entire Targa Florio
i got the GPL demo but when i start it up, it just stays at the first screen and i am forced to restart the pc . with all these positive comments i just want to try this game :'( .
Did you try the GPL 2004 demo? If so I suggest you check through the included FAQs and help files.

If you can't find anything in there then maybe have a look through this thread.
oh thankyou I forgot that the laptop runs openGL (so why do I use direct X9.0c?) also do I HAVE to downgrade the direct x for it to work?

OpenGL patch not found.
Hi all, once again thanks for all the great advice in this thread. I have scoured Sheffield for a retail copy of the game but it is nowhere to be found, so I have bought it online this morning.
From what you have said I can't wait to give it a go..
got GPL working. Its beautiful game, when it isn't laggng .
anyone know of tips that would stop lag?, i turned off all the gfx stuff and i still lag.

Well GPL runs in DX7 but Direct X is backwards compatible so any later version of Direct X will do.

What kind of lagging do you mean? Except off the start line you shouldn't really have performance issues with GPL, if you think your getting low fps press shift+F for the fps display. GPL must run at 36fps, a little less is acceptable on the grid but that is it, if you can't get it at 36 you need to lower some stuff. The big detail slider in LFS actually has about 6 points on it that make a difference (the biggest one is at about 76% IIRC) so make some big changes to that and see if it helps. Otherwise I suggest you check the read me to see if there are any lower detail cars/textures in the 2004 demo.
Ok, recieved GPL today. Now let the fun begin..
So how did it go? Install ok? Running ok?
Now comes hours of frustration trying to keep the cars on the grey stuff, but then, so much fun feeling the power drift and getting into the groove....
Game keeps crashing...so im scared to even go play it ATM...LFS definatly is the only way to go for me and this pc. Sucks having no choice other than numpad for laptop test usage...
I downloaded it for the first time aswell. Quite an enlightening and refreshing experience to be honest. The cars handle like you would expect a car with 400bhp and hardly any downforce (understeer is unbelievable). I learnt the hard way in finding out that there is a grippy racing line which seems to take an unusual pattern Only real reason I haven't spent more time on it is that the cars all ring like a school classroom fire bell at high revs. It Must be something to do with my soundcard.
Downloaded the demo just an hour ago, and omg, it feels great ! The feeling of the raw power when you floor the gas , priceless. Now I only need to buy an original copy of the game ... i think it'll be hard to find in Slovakia :P
@Al
Thx for the link ! Will inform you guys when i get the copy of the game :P
Chase, a member of the Hungarian LFS community gave me his copy of the game for free ! Big big Thank You for him being so kind !
