Hi. I just thought to share my experiences from upgrading my Sim PC.
Old:
AMD XP3200+ (Barton)
MSI KT6 motherboard (single channel memory)
1,5GB DDR400
Radeon 9700 Pro
New one:
Core2Duo E6400 (not overclocked)
Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2
2x DDR400 (DDR1 dual channel)
Radeon 9700 Pro
FPS with about 10 AI cars is now >45 from the start whereas with the old PC it dropped below 20 at worst. I never did any accurate benchmarks, but still I can say that it was a good upgrade. I would have wanted to go for an Intel G33/P35 chipset but then I would have had to get also new memory and graphics card and also the motherboard would have been more expensive.
So this was a good upgrade especially for LFS, as 9700pro is still good for that. I use 1024x768 with 4xAA and 16xAF.
