weather
I dont know if anybody said this or not.But Weather condition would be nice like a drizzle of rain or a downpour of rain and an official nightime mode too.And sun glare for when it's sunny.
Oh and popup headlights for the XR turbo
Cool idea!!!! Why didn't we think of that.
You'd really think a bunch of sim racers (and some real racers) would have thought of that before. Other car games have wet weather why not LFS. Boy oh boy, we've missed a big'un here guys. And nighttime. You mean when the sun goes down and it gets dark?! Wow, can modern computers handle such extreme effects. Sun glare!?! Is that real or imagined. I thought I saw sun glare once, but it was just me leaving a shadow and going into a bright space. Could really effect driving, especially in and out of tunnels on certain harbours. And lights on cars? Why? Oh, for the night racing. Well, you might as well put in crazy things like moving lights, especially as we already have moving lights in real life.

Sorry to sound harsh and take it out on you, but these have all been suggested before, many many times. There is a search function on the forum, and you have to assume we aren't all dunces here, and there've been a few suggestion over the last 3 and a bit years.

Welcome to LFS. We're (I'm) nice really, just an acquired taste sometimes
If every time someone posts this suggestion I would get a 1 eurocent, I would be millionare now.
And weather is going to be in LFS at some point I am 1000000% sure of that.
whys that? i said it first

..well i think i did.. maybe not, but i did say the whole 'realtime' weather thing first
When it rains and your car is a convertible, the driver should get all wet and soggy. Then for the first time the drivers will complain! Come on guys, we torture men in the cars. Their in racing suits and helmet 24/7! Nothing to eat or drink for them! Give them a break!
just like the stig

hey.. atleast they cant get hurt haha
Once again someone new posts and the same dog is at the gate trying to get a bite in. If this is the attitude that the devs support, good luck keeping ppl interested. LFS's official forum...... come here make a post and be prepared to be publically belittled.
Tristancliffe, I ask you this, seeing as your such an authority, would it have not made more sense to post a link to thread addressing this? Why do you have to come across like an arrogant little boy? This reaction your becoming quite famous for displaying is neither helpful to newbies and does nothing in establishing a community that welcomes newbies.

I tried adding some humor to the thread
:sigh:
Yes to weather, no to n00b-bashing. I'm sure there's a less crabby way to tell the dude the idea's already on the table - like giving him a link to the suggestions log, perhaps.

rofl we should start a pool on when someone will post another thread asking for weather or real cars or something.
Seen the sun glare effect in Jowood's Rally Trophy? Thats done sufficiently well to be really irritating! First time I saw it, it had me squinting and reaching for the sun visor. Really does pile the pressure on when you're struggling to see where the road goes.

It would make more sense for him to find the treadS (there are lots, either here on on RSC), rather than sppon fed the information. I did suggest searches, and I apologised for bashing him in my post.

Also, if you'd actually read the vst majority of my posts, I AM helpful to forum newbies - pointing out where to find information, why such and such isn't in the game, how the update procedures work. But of course, no one notices this cos it's fun to tell Tristan he's too harsh.

Any why should I be exceptionally nice to someone who (with 2 previous posts, so not a TOTAL newcomer) suggests such an obvious improvement.
At the end of the day, I had a bit of a mock at him, then pointed out nicely that it had already been discussed. If you can only see the bad aspects of my posts then so be it, but lets not turn this thread into a bashing thread about newbie treatment - there are already enough of those, and there is a dedicated 'bash tristan' thread anyway.

"It's fun to tell Tristan he's too harsh".
Haha

OK guys, the jig's up, Tristan's on to us. No more criticising him for a laugh....

Agree..
lol you cant take tristan in a literal manner.. atleast i never have, i havent seen one serious post by him (yet)
My post was not meant to be a tristan bash. Just a simple request to someone in the know to maybe have some patience with those that aren't. I also know 1st hand how frustrating it is to answer the same questions over and over, but one must expect this and appreciate the fact the user base is growing. As more ppl find the world of LFS the more you'll see the same questions being asked. A little civility goes along way.
I would like to see it, but i alwasy race in the dry anyways, so its no big deal for me.
I never like to see n00bs being flamed. It's easier and civilised just to explain what the correct place is for suggestions rather than ranting on sarcastically about how it would be wonderful it would be if we had those improvements made to the sim.

As for me I would say weather (rain in particular) would be one of the best improvements which could be made to lfs. And before any of the flamers (almost sounds like they should work at burger king) start on me I'm going to post to the suggestions log.

end of rant.

It is understandable and somewhat acceptable that newcomers don't search for subjects previously discussed and it is also understandable and somewhat acceptable that veteran members get frustrated with obvious suggestions that get repeated and revisited constantly. Weather is, of course, something the devs have considered and continue to consider for future updates. Night racing is rare IRL but a popular suggestion nonetheless. Rain is expected in future updates but nobody (including the devs) really knows when this may happen.

As for pop-up lights on the XRT: If LFS gets night-time driving you can reasonably expect the lights to work on all of the cars, including the XRT.

I would like to also suggest that if night racing becomes a reality we can all expect it to be very difficult. Night racing is hard and so it would be in LFS, if implemented. Viewing distance and distance judgement would both be affected and one may expect a much-reduced quality of view (discernable detail) in terms of graphics and an increased frame rate for a given distance.
Why are people constantly asking for rainy racing? Most people can't keep their car on the track in the dry and you guys want rain!? I don't get it. We get posts all the time bitching about "low traction", "soap tracks", loose rear ends, etc and then at the same time people are asking for rain and even LESS traction! illepall

Sneeze on your screen and drive the FZ with Road_Normals. Voila! Just like driving in the rain!
