50 Really Good Independent Games
http://www.tigsource.com/features/spirit.html

Interesting list of some of the better quality indy games around these days. Some are probably quite well known (like Gish), but there will be some that you've never heard of before (Death Worm?). Could be fun to check out if you're in the mood for some well made but lo-fi/low budget entertainment.

Maybe you guys can post up some good indy games which have impressed over the past few years or so. ?

One from me- Within A Deep Forest. A great little game (not on the list).
Oh, pass-time! Thanks!
The first two paragraphs of that article sum up how I've been feeling for years. God bless the good ship Scavier and all who sail in her.
I can't believe Defcon isn't on that list
The list isn't really designed to be a top 50 of sorts, but more of an introduction to good indy games. It's been paired down from a bigger list of 100 games, which is also worth a look through.

(Defcon's on the bigger list )
Nice links, thanks EK
Some good titles on the bigger list.
Outpost Kaloki is an interesting one (I have the 360 version), very easy to get into but gets pretty hard pretty quickly.
The newest Bridge Builder (Bridge Construction Set) is another good physics-driven project, which I'd like to see actually used in something - the "missions" are a little basic, but it has a lot of potential.
Stair Dismount always makes me laugh, although it's technically not a game either.

But the Defcon demo had me giggling when I played it. The music is so relaxed, but the background sounds of people crying and coughing are well creepy. And the complete lack of emotion when you see something like "San Francisco - 2,405,800 dead" is just bizarre

I'll need to check out some of those other titles though. Indie projects are great because they have nothing to lose by pushing genre boundaries, so you often get stuff that is totally original.

[Edit:
Oh, that reminds me. There was a 2D motocross game with Paper Mario style graphics. Can't remember the name right now. Demo had about 14 levels. The bike was elastic, so you could wrap it round small pieces of scenery. You had to collect apples without hitting your head.
Aha! ELASTOMANIA! That's one to check out too, which isn't on that list but should be.]
Hahah. I love paper mario, a motocross game might actually make me play.

And that Defcon game sounds funny

Heard of 'Golf?' (another Chronic Logic game). I don't think it's really done yet- another eternal beta/classic in the making- heh but it's still great, the controls are already highly polished and intuitive, and better realized than most of the more commercial golf games. It also has a bizarre art style, (imo it's greatest charm) reminiscent of the Dadaist Francis Picabias' works. Also, your caddy is a lazy drunken flying robot, which is in itself a big plus.

Link is here...

I played bridge builder when I was making a bridge for a science project, but the scienve project was easier. X_X
