ahhh, so you are human after all

I agree also that sets make a difference, but only if you can drive the car to a good standard

Oh sure,....a good set cant make you a good driver, but a good driver can get great results with a good set.

yep

just a quick question.... in ss1 you get around 10 to 15 points for a win, the same in Race1. In Race2 you can get up to 80 pts for a win... is it the same in ss2?
Quote from niall09 : is it the same in ss2?

If we ever get enough people to fill the server we might find out
I think the current points system is pointing too much towards the fastest lap and not on finishing position or consistency. I just did a race on SS1 (being very low on the license tables still). I won, but got less points than the man who came second because his best lap was about 0.8 faster than mine (me 7pts, him 8).
I'm not the kind of person to ever do well in a hotlap competition, but put me racing for 10 laps and my consistency starts paying off.
I mean I can be 2 or more secs off pace on a track and still manage to claw myself a 3-5th position even starting from the back of the grid. And then I only get a couple of points.

I agree, because I have the same problem. Getting a bonus on the number of positions you gained during the race would be cool too.
We've had those complaints countless times now - including from myself . I have only one piece of advice for you: get faster. That's what I did. And the system does reward consistency: you got points, didn't you? If the guy behind gets only one point more than you because he was faster that's not that big a deal IMO. It would be different if you got no points at all and the guy behind you did, which happened a lot to me in the beginning.
That's hardly the answer as I pointed out.
I don't think I will ever do well in the sort of hotlap competition the points suggest.
However I'm good at altering my lines, braking points etc to match the wind, tyre condition, traffic etc etc and therefore usually climb up from my starting position and would like to be rewarded from my finishing position rather than the best lap I could throw in at some random point of the race.
Some people, even though they're much faster than me with their pb's are just making too many mistakes during a race to compete against the consistant driver.
I very rarely spin or crash (and get yellow flags on my license) but I'm not slowest guy either.

In it's current form the points system is just not rewarding enough for me to be really interested in participating on the single seaters.

The finishing order should have the highest weight when counting the points.
Quote from teaz-R :The finishing order should have the highest weight when counting the points.

It does have the highest weight in the points calculation. Pace is also rewarded, but not as much as finishing position. Don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from. I'm also not a hotlapper but more a consistent driver, and because of that I tend to do better in longer races. But I think the points system is about right the way it is. Position has the highest weight, but you won't get points if you're not fast enough. If you happen to put down a really fast lap but don't finish well, you'll still get 1 or 2 points for the fast lap. That's not that much, is it? The guy who finished second behind you just happened to put down a fast lap and finish well, and as a result he got 1 point more than you did
I am going to make changes to the algoryhthm for phase 2. Wind will be taken into account and lap time consistency will comprise part of the lap time calculation, your best lap will still have an influencing factor but it's influence will be shared with how consistent your own lap times are in comparison to yourself.

Right now phase 2 is a little way ahead, i'm really busy sorting out some STCC stuff at the moment, i've not even started the backlog of broadcasts yet. I'm working on a major step forward for the STCC and, as a consequence, sim racing in general. Then i've got broadcasts to do, then i'll get on with phase 2.

So yes I do acknowledge that some drivers do not like the current points, I have listened and I have already compromised (108%) and will more radically overhaul the points biasing in the future, right not it's planned for the 'future' because i'm working on something major. I'm not ready to announce anything yet, but I hope to be able to do so within the next month or two.

Great! And thanks for your hard work!

Thanks Becky. It's made a huge difference. I think the points system is much improved as a result too.....

I am not sure if you fed the LFS processor some farting compound or gave the good Lord baked beans to eat, but crikey, there's a lot of wind about.... and I dont think its from Lord Blaster
As thats the fifth time you have used that joke in the last few weeks you'll have to forgive me for not laughing...

sounds interesting -

a question Becky will we then be at the situation whereby if you are crashed by someone in a lap then your 'consistancey' for that race is then ruined? and hence less points? or does it work different some how?

or am i asking too many questions and should just shut up and drive
